Rule Clarifications

Post by luke9675 »

It is just myself and a couple of buddies playing without the help of any experts, so I plan on asking a lot of questions that probably seem really simple to everyone. Please bear with me.

On the combat system...

How do the positive and negative modifiers exactly work? If I have two positive modifiers and my opponent has one positive modifier in combat, do I roll on the +row and he roll on the negative? Do I roll on the ++ row and he on the + or do I roll on the + row and he on the no modifier?

I hope you understand what I am saying. I am getting confused on how the modifiers work and who rolls what.

Thanks

impact and melee mods are like a scale.. you get a + and your opponent gets a -... Shooting is NOT changed by your opponents shooting.. You get a +.. your opponent can get a + also.
Po-tae-toes! Mash 'em up and put 'em in a stew!

Go through the list of modifiers for the combat in question and come up with an end result. Determine who has the pluses, don't worry about the negatives. Whichever side has the +, the other side will always have the same number of -. For example:

+ = -
++ = --
0 = 0

So if you have a ++ you hit on 3 and your opponent will have a -- and hit on 5's.

you have a + you hit on 4 and your opponent will have a - and hit on 5's.

you have a ++ and your opponent has a + so therefore ++ subtract + = +
(you will have a + and hit on 4 while your opponent will have the opposite, or - and hit on a 5.)

you have a + and your opponent has a + so therefore + subtract + = 0
(you will have a 0 and hit on 4 while your opponent will also have a 0, and hit on a 4 as well.)

The modifiers net each other out, meanining:

If the red side has ++ POA's and the blue has + POA the result net is red + blue -.

If red has + and blue has minus the result net is red ++ blue --

If red has + and blue has plus the net result is no POA.

If red has + and blue no POA the result net is red + blue -

etc

There may be more modifiers possible but it never gets worse than ++ v's --
