Kawkareik pass unable to finish

Post by Mojko »

Game version: 4.1.4 / Steam
Campaign: Burma road
Scenario: Kawkareik pass

I have completed all primary objectives but the mission won't finish. I would expect the mission to end right after I recapture the objective to the north west. I even let the AI take his next turn but the issue remains. Please find the attached save game.

Hi,
You recaptured Myapadaing at turn 7.
The objective "Recapture Myapadaing" is enabled at turn 6 but this objective is completed only at turn 11 (>10).

Yes, it looks like you'll get a victory only after turn 10.

There is probably a design flaw which happens if the player can anticipate the capture of Myapadaing and prevent it from happening. Unlikely to happen on the first playthrough, but probably easy to do with the right foreknowledge.

I'll see if the triggers can be tweaked a bit to make it more flexible.

I anticipated the north western city to be important because it has the golden flag (primary objective) even before it officially becomes an objective. Additionally, I saw enemy area of control in the fog of war so I anticipated enemy paratroopers.

I recommend changing the phase two primary objective to "hold north western city X turns" or "clear the north western city of enemy units" (I think similar objective was used in the Marines campaign).

If we had a Trigger in the Editor that could change the Victory Point for Capture Point : None -> Secondary or Primary, it would be very useful in this case.

Only the first time someone plays this particular scenario though. Ideally if there are things that are supposed to catch the player by surprise, they need to have a strong level of randomisation so they remain unpredictable no matter how often you replay the scenario.
