I hope the tournament is a great success. Good luck!
Thank you - I'll do a report in the fullness of time

In all fairness I'm PMing the guy on how to do a quote, so cut me some slack!
Absolutely right - hope I've done it properly :D

For what it's worth the Berkeley Vale gang would probably come irrespective as it's a boys weekend for us and we have a good time at the show then enjoy the hospitality of the Waterloo whilst we watch the rugby.

I say 'irrespective' but that is in relation to FOG, we'd not be interested in DBM nor DBMM.

I agree that the restrictions may be offputting for some but I can understand the intent. I've not played a 25mm tourney but we do play a lot of 25mm FOG (and 15mm too). Trouble with pikes is that in 25mm they do take up a lot of room and you are more than likely forced to take them frontally, which is not always a good idea unless you have better pikes.

We've not used many knight armies in 25mm yet but I think the lack of room would hamper them anyway so I'd not be too worried.

It's always a friendly event and the players tend to get stuck in there, so I'd not worry about lines of pike sitting watching each other. Restricting would certainly limiy my army choice as I have Late Seleucids and Romans, the others in the group would also be limited and we could have problems lending armies to those who normally borrow one in the group as there'd not be enough non pike or knight armies.

What I will do is get the gang to try a few knight and pike vs others games and see how it goes.

For the record we'd probably be 4 but could be 6 of us for next Jan/Feb

We are bowing to popular pressure and allowing all armies.
So on the weekend of 31st January/1st February there will be a 25mm Fog tournament in Plymouth.
650 points, any army from the first seven list books.
More than likely a 15mm tournament too.
As for rugby - I'll be missing the Albion local derby at Exeter (which, on current form, may be no bad thing  )

Now you are just pandering to the masses ;-). Good news though.

That would possibly split our group with 3 likely for 25mm and 3 likely 15mm. Although if you have the numbers it's not likely to be an issue. Would the 15mm one be more book restriced ?

More good news on the PAW 2009 show front - catering facilities sorted! After many years at the same venue they're finally letting us have access to tea-making facilities!! :D

On a more serious note, as the Event Organiser for PAW 2009 I would like to see both 15mm and 25mm FOG tournaments succeed and become a well attended annual event. Those of you who been to the show know that it is a fun weekend. Because of the problems with DBM(M) over the last few years the number of players has dwindled, but with this new set of rules, I'm hoping we can encourage a lot more people to take part. We have plenty of space so you are all welcome! Contact Albion1 if you want to take part. Full details will go onto the club website www.plymouthwargamers.co.uk in the next week or so.
