I got the Mac version of the game and there are a couple of questions I got.
1. Is there an editor for the mac version?
2. Cant get the "shortcuts" to work. For example I can't disband units during deployment. Tried D, -Fn-D, Shift D and Fn Shift D but nothin works. Is really annoying to not be able to disband units.
3. The game crashes often and I am playing on a macbook pro and it is running crazy hot which seems odd. Are there any way of fixing this?

Re: MAC questions
1 No there is no editor in mac version, or library.
2. If you bring up the unit details window there is a disband button.
Note while I tried the Mac beta, I don't have the retail Mac version and don't know if all the issues were fixed.
3 When I played AC on my $300 Window laptop I had the same problem, I got a usb powered fan to sit the laptop on and cool it down.
I believe the problem is the graphics chips "running hot".
I recall reading somewhere that changing some graphic settings may reduce the problem, but I wasn't able to find it.
Note I play the PC version of Pzc on my Mac Air using wineskin, which has the editor and library.

There comes a time on every project when it is time to shoot the engineer and ship the damn thing.
Re: MAC questions
I'm so sorry, the Mac version is a terrible port of the iPad version which is in turn a mediocre port of the PC version. It is full of bugs. You can bring up the unit info by right clicking or two finger clicking in game. There is no way of doing that on the Mac during deployment so no way to sell units for a refund. This has been broken since release back in May and likely will not be getting fixed. Slitherine provides no support to Mac users other than an email address for the 3rd party porting house they used and they do not take pride in the quality of the Mac game.Von Dodenburg wrote:I got the Mac version of the game and there are a couple of questions I got.

The heating issue is because of the low quality of the port. The game runs fine at a normal temperature on an ancient iPad so it definitely doesn't need to use a huge amount of graphics power, but the Mac version takes a lot of programming shortcuts.
I'm sorry you wasted your money. The game actually is really amazing on the iPad, though even there support is lacking for the large screen variants.

Re: MAC questions
Ok thanks for the help guys. I actually enjoy the game but then on the other hand I haven't tried out the PC versionSince I can't disband during deployment I guess I am stuck with my sermons that I captured in stalingrad...
I am going to buy a new Ipad soon since I got an old Ipad 2 and when I do I will try out the Ipad version of the game. Sad that the developers doesn't support the Mac version as more and more people are getting macs these days.

Yeah it's a great game, and while you and I might enjoy it in spite of the sloppy programming, I'm afraid it won't have the appeal that it should. The price on the Mac App Store and the iOS App Store is very high and never goes on sale, so at that price point I don't see too many people recommending it to their friends in the state its in.

Re: MAC questions
As an alternative, you could disband the Shermans while not in deployment and just use the 'cheat codes' to give yourself the prestige you would have received if you had done it during deployment. This wouldn't be considered 'cheating' per se, as you are just trying to make up for something that should be available in the port, but is broken.Von Dodenburg wrote:Ok thanks for the help guys. While Slitherine takes no responsibility for the MAC port, they should have insisted that the porting house achieve higher quality / parity of features before permitting it to be released. That responsibility does fall on them.
Re: MAC questions
I emailed the support team on this issue:
"I cannot open the unit dialog/information window when in the deployment mode. This prevents you from renaming units, checking unit history, disbanding units. In the IPAD version you would normally click on the unit avatar in the menu box on the screen or in the PC version you would press ALT key plus mouse click while the unit is chosen. Neither works on the Mac version and it is really an essential need for the game.
Is there a fix that can be made to enable this?"
They responded to me within a few hours the following:
"We are currently working on game update, we will fix issues that you mentioned. Fixed version will be available shortly."

Re: MAC questions
Thanks for getting that info from the porting house tpoo! Nice to know an update is planned. Could you do us all a favor and stop calling the iPad an IPAD? That's about as obnoxious as people who call the Mac a MAC.
