Why is it there?

That's a head scratcher. I didn't have that happen to me when I played WW.best75 wrote:I completed the winter war campaign and was looking at my core when I spot this soviet infantry in it
Why is it there?
Heh. I was thinking more of "prisoners of war" or "turncoats" but as usual your fertile mind produces a much better rationalization!GiveWarAchance wrote:Maybe spies. Red Army had special skill at infiltration.
Or maybe Hiwis that want to hang out in Finnish saunas rather than in a cold POW camp.
That's my one standing criticism of OOB, that some reported bugs in old DLC have never been fixed. Don't worry, I am compiling a list and someday, someday . . .Asap wrote:Did you notice the Japanese Infantry '37 too? The player gets one in the Tali Ihantala scenario. Not a core unit but after all..
I saw that Japanese unit too. I am wondering how the Finnish got Japanese and soviet troops in their army now.Asap wrote:Did you notice the Japanese Infantry '37 too? The player gets one in the Tali Ihantala scenario. Not a core unit but after all..

Well, the thing that Asap is pointing out is a scenario flaw. If I remember correctly, that unit appears on the map under Finnish flag but is quickly annihilated which probably explains why it was not noticed during development. Your thing with the rogue Soviet infantry could be something to do with the mechanism to prepare the core for export at campaign end, although that feature is not actually used in Winter War.best75 wrote:I saw that Japanese unit too. I just went through every Winter War scenario in the editor, looking for spawn triggers that do what Asap's example shows: Spawn a Soviet infantry unit but under the Finnish flag. I could not find any such instance.best75 wrote:I checked again and it seems the Soviet inf only appears if I click to turn the filter for land units off than click to turn it on again.

Have not ever used the Soviet infantry. I don't think I can. I checked it combat stats and it has never been in combatGiveWarAchance wrote:Have you used the soviet infantry in battle? It would be a good fodder unit for soaking up incoming ordnance.
