no, austrian arty wasnt main factor, main factor was i made breach first turn, but in reverse my french infantry with 3/10 holded the ground, suprisingly
in initial turn we had same equip there, austrian arty is definitely not game changer, its just one more support unit, all other supports where riped off the game
i didnt let french dig in, then corps became corpses
ruprecht is fine, but i used same set up in the east as during schlieffens, i havent moved a single unit from the west to the east, they are all needed in the west, sooner or later
now i see u didnt declare war to suiss, thats why its overcrowded there

@Zombo: this is all very detailed and well thought out but, alas, there is a f*cking crash bug needing to be fixed first. I'm also with nehi on that the number of games played is not yet significant enough to introduce drastic changes like "no attacks at efficiency 4 or less".
I will comment on your suggestions tomorrow in detail.
For the moment though:

Well, what can we do? That crash bug might be caused by absolutely anything since the log is not reporting errors and therefore is no help at all. To be honest, I'm clueless for the moment being.

What's new:
- I've rewritten Race to the Sea so it happens at the END of a game turn in MP so the replay won't get confused by changing hexes (IF the Race to Sea event is the culprit this change should fix that)
- Russia starts with Reserve Corps in Ossovice and Novogeorgievsk
- all Russian cities/fortresses with units in radius around of 3 hexes around Warsaw receive max entrenchment
- slightly raised Russian war effort at beginning
- Sweden joining CP only possible by investing INFLUENCE (Entente can also do so to lower the chance!!!), should be somewhat rare now
- Switzerland gains some PP
- British will shift a tiny bit closer to Entente for each German naval attack on French cities

To clarify: RACE TO THE SEA is designed to trigger in either player's turn at any time when a unit moves in France or Belgium after a certain set of conditions has been met.Race to the Sea: something kinda odd happened when the event fired vs Argentum. Because it was his turn to move, the railroad connection between Antwerp and Calais suddenly became free, and he was able to “slide” the British corps in Calais straight into the Belgian fortress, along the coast, unmolested by the neighbouring German armies crammed in Belgium( the Germans cannot, as historically, encircle Antwerp.)

Map editing is not possible. The only thing you are allowed to edit are cities, ports and fortresses. No terrain changing or railroad rerouting. It has been brought up dozens of times over the years when players demanded a functioning map editorAn elegant fix to this would be to re-rout the railroad from Calais into Ypres, then back to the coast into Antwerp. So Allied troops in calias would be able to move one hex up the coast into that marsh hex (historical) while the Germans would have the remaining northern hex to encircle Antwerp (historical too).

What exactly are the requirements for the North Sea blockade? I've had Germany being blockaded even though the UK had surrendered. Is it possible that the event only checks for naval presence and not whether the UK is at war?

I really think we should invert the trend here, as I have yet to see a game where Lemberg is even seriously threatened, let alone Preszmyl ( not to mention at the right historical time). Honestly, I don't know if it's feasible, but Galicia should have NO entrenchments when Russia attacks. The historical outcome was a ROUT. In the game, in grinds down to a static slugfest.
Regarding Race to the Sea, is there a way to prevent the above-mentioned situation? if the Allies are first to benefit from the "freed" hexes, it's probably going to happen in most games. Calais is generally well-garrisoned, and Antwerpen not yet taken (artillery is needed elsewhere and there are only two hexes to attack from) So the Calais garrison will always be able to railroad to Antwerp right under the noses of the Germans.
looking forward to trying the new patch, hopefully I'll be able to resume Argentum's game.
BTW, i'm getting crushed in France vs Nehi's Rupprecht. German's have conquered nearly the half of France and are stopped before paris by the onset of winter. British still waiting on the sidelines, I think 7-9 turns before waking up. Apart from British displeasure at Kriegsmarine nonchalance (which I see you have implemented, cool, thx) I also think there should be a Britsih shift towards war for every French town/fort ( with the exception of the French-German border ones) that is captured by the Germans. the idea is that British continental policy was ( had been for centuries and remained so after that) to prevent a single European country to gain dominance over the continent. While Germany and France being locked in an inconclusive melee would probably serve British interests well, a German defeat of France would be a absolute nightmare: Germany would gain such economic ascendancy that it would be able to contest all British continental markets, the German navy could demand operational bases on the French coasts, or even ( the worst nightmare of all) obtain the surrendering of the French navy (that would presumably be scuttled, but you never know).
So i think that if the French were visibly close to irremediable defeat, the British would jump in to prevent that catastrophe.
Needless to say, it would also have beneficial effets on the play balance.

7.45 installed, game with Argentum still crashes during replay (race to the Sea already happened so shouldn't be the cause) when a British ship (dreadnought?) moves from the vicinity of Antwerp back to the British coast (in the direction of London)

every turn im taking more and more space there, encircling paris, holding warsaw still in 1914
willy is incredibly demanding

AGAIN: WHO IS HOSTING THAT GAME?
Already in the game: every German attack on Paris shifts British alignment by 1, taking Paris makes Britain enter the war at once.I also think there should be a Britsih shift towards war for every French town/fort ( with the exception of the French-German border ones)

no log, almost nothing happend during replay
it starts, i see first army moving, then crash
during first replaying i saw gas event, but in next three not... (did it happen for u or not, zombo?)
im afraid it can be caused by winter map, in single player games it was wierd, sometimes it changes during turn randomly with popping up messagebox
(12th nov, can be winter at that turn?)

@nehi: yes, winter can start as early as November. If early onset of winter would be the cause of the bug then every crash would have happened around turn 11 to 13. I'm not sure whether all the crashes happened at that time since I got no details from the other players about the current game turn.
The message you saw was referring to the engine having to load the winter map first after restarting the game. Since early onset of winter is not saved into the savegame
I had to write a workaround so that the first time you click anywhere on the map after reloading a game with early winter status the game first has to catch up by loading the winter map.
Example: imagine while playing the game, early winter suddenly comes in November. When you save that game and reload it, you get the summer map. My workaround ensures that the winter map is loaded in such cases.

@nehi: winter is not changing during the turn but before the turn (not before a player's phase). And your Greek Schism event example only happens in SP.

it can be completely wrong
but isnt mp similar as saving, sending and loading game? how can that affect winters coming? i mean winter map, loaded as non winter, zombo clicked... winter map could be loaded -> crash
unfortunately such game is locked for 30 days until can be removed...
(but oce i heard i can make new account with different nickname to get new slots instantly)

for first testscript ive made new directory just for testing, but for 2nd and 3rd most likely used common version instead

If you (the MP players) want to see this mod fixed I need your active help.
I'd suggest you stop your MP games with the crashing replays and start new ones (the joy of beta testing).
If the replay bugs occurs, please tell me:
1. who played which side and in which player's replay the crash happened.
2. in what game turn the crash happened.
3. what unit saw you moving last? alternatively: which action did you see before the crash?
4. if game turn 11 or later: was it already winter?
5. Was Britain already in the war?
As always include the logfile if there is anything to see there besides the standard messages ("moving on").
