Ending a comp game

Post by GKChesterton1976 »

In a tournament game in which time is important, if there is no result, how is the game ended?

Whistle stop

Do not start another bound

Do not start another pair of bounds

These seem to be the principal options. Any discussion would be most helpful

the 2 i have been in... Finish what phase you are in... So your in impact.. Finish all your impacts.. Done. Whistle blow type games.. IMO.. Helps cheesy players, saying.. well im not gonna roll dice for combat.. We only have like 3 min left.. I like finish the phase approach.

The comps I've been to in UK finish where both players have had an equal number of turns, and end with the player who had PBI finishing his turn, but no JAP in that turn. I've never bothered to think about any advantage this gives to whoever 'cos its the law and there's nothing I can do about it. Until now.

I do not think it matters very much, so long as the players are told up front how the situation will be handled.

In the tournaments that I have run I told players up front that when time expired they should finish the phase they were in when time was called. I chose that because the rules say that an army break is evaluated at the end of each phase.
