Gavin, if an uprising army loses it is treated as any other who has lost his last county. I.e another player from the same must give up a county or he and his army are lost. By the way the rule needs changing, says the donor must give up half his counties, should be gives up a county.

I prefer your original idea which was supported by A4, Kingi in Cornwall and Triarius could share the North with me. I will be taking a month off soon so would have to resign my Counties,he could take over my place.

Thanks for spotting that the rule fairies will change it... either way the county any army is occupying will be forfeited if that army loses . If the "uprising" wins then they become a player with their first home county. If they lose they remain an "uprising" and retreat into a friendly county.awesum4 wrote:Gavin, if an uprising army loses it is treated as any other who has lost his last county. Gavin,
Josh the GrumpyDoge might be happy to take over, must be getting bored sitting in London drinking warm small ale and discussing the price of haberdashery. Admittedly he will lead the Northern rebels with style and panache and devil may care attitude, unlike Warlord's strong resilient careful dour Scots protestant approach.
I voted for option B, spontaneous uprisings in Kent and Surrey,

Unless I have a surge of votes
option B has 2
option A has 1
Original option has 1
soooo...option B seems the preferred choice (4 voted so far) More importantly we want to know the progress of the battling... any cries of havoc yet?

The first shots have been fired in the south west. The situation mirrors that of the original ECW where Sir Ralph Hopton faced his great friend Sir William Waller. My small Cornish army is engaged with my great friend Kerry's rebels. We are outnumbered by more than 3 to 2 but are feeling positive. Kerry has advanced from the numerous fields surrounded by hedges so the battle is being fought in the open which suits my cavaliers but also gives me no cover from his shooting.

The voters have chosen! Kingi starts in County 3 as Royalist. He has a 1000 pt army and has claimed the county as his home county. He can record a move from Turn 3. Triarius starts in County 2 as Parliamentarian He has a 1000 pt army and has claimed the county as his home county. He can also record a move from Turn 3. I wish them the best of luck... particularly Kingi as he will need it!

Re: ECW Campaign 2017 Common Thread
My Lords I wish to report a glorious victory in the name of the King!
The two raiding forces met on low lying farmland, this surprisingly flat piece of Yorkshire broken up by only a couple of scattered copses and small areas of marsh and rough.
The Rebel army consisted of 7 companies of foot, 10 of horse, 1 battery of light guns and 2 of each of dragoons and commanded shot, and on a flat field initially had the better of the terrain, being able to deploy amongst hedgerows. Our Royalist force consisted of 6 companies of foot, 12 of horse and 2 of dragoons. The Royalists therefore had by far superior mounted force, (in both quantity and quality), but were inferior in foot, both in numbers of men, muskets and quality. An unsatisfactory match up considering the defensive position the Rebels held.
The battle started with the Parliamentarians pushing forward their light troops to disrupt the Royalist horse that moved to either flank in an attempt to turn the defences, whilst the Royalist foot, not willing to enter into an unequal duel, sat out of range. Harassing fire from the lights and startling success of the Lt artillery, (they caused 35 casualties amongst the Dragoons at maximum range with their opening volley!), forced the Royalist horse to advance rapidly, causing them to break formation. It was at this point that the Parliamentarians then advanced their infantry to fire into the flanks of the Royalist horse and charge with their own horse, Caught unprepared the Cavaliers proved remarkably fragile with fully half of their left flank routed in but a couple of turns. Their right flank however was in a better position and despite early loses were able to recover in order to bring their superior forces to bear. An unequal melee then ensued, which despite their valiant efforts, the Parliamentarians were doomed to lose. It was also here that Royalist Dragoons were able to catch the artillery crews unprotected, scattering them and exacting revenge for their many dead.
Meanwhile in the centre the Royalist foot, seeing the Rebels now out of cover and no longer concentrated, advanced in support of their horse. The left hand companies seeing the disaster unfolding on that flank remembered their training about not reinforcing a defeat, and instead swung back toward the right. Despite the Rebel foot being supported by 2 regiments of horse this now gave the Royalists superiority in numbers, (if not in quality), and a fierce firefight then followed.
It was the victorious right flank that won the day though. Having shattered the Rebel horse they were able to swing back towards the centre, catching the Rebel foot in the rear, and the inevitable collapse soon followed.
What looked to be a shock defeat at turn 5 ended a resounding victory at turn 10 with the Royalists suffering 29% losses compared to the Rebels 59%. I must say that I was alarmed at how easily the Cavaliers broke and applaud Warlord on using his lights, the cover and his foot to great effect to break up their formation and seriously impede their ability to react.
A must also say that I can now breath a sigh of release as I didn't relish the prospect of reporting 2 loses in succession.

Re: ECW Campaign 2017 Common Thread
Kelen,
well done on your victory. Your come back will inspire my boys who are struggling against the massive firepower advantage of Kerry's rebels. We are in contact now and hope our greater elan will carry the day.
Gavin,
I've been in correspondence with RBS and he is working on making the two other threads secure. I supplied him with the list of players as above, hopefully they are all spelled right so its a straight forward task,
Andre
