Possible tournament in (near) Berlin

Post by lawrenceg »

There is a possibility that a FOG tournament will be organised to take place in the former WW2 Luftwaffe Alternative HQ on the outskirts of Berlin.

At this stage they want to assess likely demand, especially from non-German players.

Please reply to this thread if you think you might consider attending.

May I suggest that possible dates may help people comment.

At the moment it is at the "I think we have a good venue and might put on a tournament sometime, but who would come?" stage.

So the question is: assuming it was on favourable dates, would you travel to it? Would you even consider it?

If the date was good I would certainly consider it! It would need the date posted 3/4 months in advance and to coordinate with other national and international events.

Perhaps the next step might be to look at the schedule and suggest to these nice teutonic gentlemen when a good date would be, one that's far enough in the future to allow for planning, and doesn't conflict too horribly with existing events :) :) :)

Crossposted from the German FOG forum:
am 10. und 11.01.2009 findet in Potsdam ein FoG-Neujahrturnier statt.

Zur Einladung: http://www.komicon.de/downloads/einladu ... dam_09.pdf
So this comp is taking place 10-11 Jan 2009.

Loosely translated the details are:

Location: Potsdam in the Henning-von-Tresckow-Kaserne (Barracks)

4 games, 2 on Saturday starting 10 a.m. 2 on Sunday starting 9 a.m.

800 points (figure scale is not specified, but I think it will be 15 mm)

Entry fee 20 Euro, which will all be used to finance an opulent menu. (Not sure if the German word "menu" translates directly here).

Good quality food and drink is available and cheap in the Officers Mess.

Spartan accommodation available on-site for 10 Euros per night. Otherwise there are 3- to 5- star hotels within 5 minutes drive.

Send your entries to ferdi[at]komicon.de by 15th December at the latest. (arrangements for sending the money are not specified)

Transfers from Potsdam railway station and Tegel and Schoenfeld airports can be arranged.
