Breaking News from the pamphleteersThe Jacobites bitten back by Swedish bold beefy blitz Returning the the favour GGDee' men in blue inflicted 45% Hidde's laddies losing face before ultimate slaughter at 19%
Front row seats were given to the Swedish cavalry with the Swedish foot left running to keep up. Yes, this is the battle (Seers say) that later inspires a Marshal of France named Ney at a place called Waterloo. No fancy tactics here... just one line at full gallop with the second line left to gather in the confused bewildered men in dresses. Their women and children laminated their slaughter at the hands of the merciless mounted masqueraded marauders. And to polish off the demoralized Scots... a bonus Swedish two unit cavalry march at the exact right time in the exact right place!

There does appear to be an awful lot of Jacobite games turning up all of a sudden, that's at least 3 pairs of games they're, (getting their butts kicked), in.

Some of us dream of Jacobites. Would make a change from all these Russians hordes.
My second game against Gdodds saw my Swedes smash his Russians I lost 12% he lost 41%. So almost a repeat of our first game but with the armies swapped.
My last game against Hidde hangs in the balance 43% to 42% with us both being very battered

They're called mirror games for a reason, (and die gods and skill aside), the result was an almost perfect mirror of the 1st game, (which was French 48 / Imperialists 60%). Lack of decent impact horse on the Imperials side means that the French horse just runs over them, whereas their foot tends to give a good showing against their opposite numbers.
My second game against Hidde was a victory for my Russians 53% 7 points against his Imperialists 63% 5.3 points. A tough game that swung back and forth several times until his army collapsed with exhaustion in the last turn.
In the return match TGMs Jacobites were given an unenviable task against my Spanish. On a flat open field the Scots only cover was a small wood in the centre of their line, and an even smaller patch of rough on their right flank. With no horse to speak of, and faced with the prospect of cowering in the wood whilst the Spanish mopped up those units in the open, the Scots decided it was better to go down fighting. Whilst some highlanders in the rough held off the Spanish cavalry on their right, and a solid 3 deep phalanx of nearly 30 units of highlanders, supported by a few P&S, bravely charged out towards the Spanish line.
Despite their numbers and speed it was not to be as marauding Spanish horse crashed into the left flank of the phalanx, with 1 unit routing almost half the front line on but the first turn of combat. Run down my horse on their flank, and facing a barrage of shot to their front the phalanx was quickly shattered. Only a few scattered units able to actually reach the Spanish foot where the claymores did some lethal work in amongst the pikes.
A heroic effort ultimately doomed to fail left nearly 4,000 highlanders dead and dying on the field, and another 5,600 facing captivity or scattered across the countryside. There will be much wailing and lamenting in the glens tonight.

Standings for Box 2 with 1 match to go between Youngr and Hidde (exciting stuff!)
Youngr 35
Hidde 33.7
Awesum4 33.5
GDod 21
Seems GDod and Awesum4 have not had lady fortuna on their side this series! The question still remains will Youngr become wiser or will Hidde finally reveal himself on the pinnacle of the boxed mountain. We wait... but while we do check out the other standing on this link

Awesum4 playing masses of Russians was dreadful especially in awful terrain!
The final game between myself and Hidde is a real nail-biter between my Danes and his Swedes. The battle has swung to and fro and both armies are utterly battered with a result due very soon. I think I have a nose ahead but any more catastrophic cavalry pursuits could easily change that.
Youngr (Danish) lost 40% vs Hidde (Swedish) lost 62%
Youngr 6.0 + 2.2 = 8.2
Hidde = 4.0
A great game that went to and fro until the greater numbers and resilience of the Danish broke through. The usual frustration on both sides with units going on until autobreaking yet other units disrupting as soon as you go near them, cavalry pursuing in odd directions etc.
I look forward to another competition sometime in the future so many thanks to Rex and Gdod for doing all the organising.
Congratulations Richard, no doubt a well-deserved victory!
Youngr 43.2
Hidde 37.7
Awesum4 33.5
