Video Resolution Issue Gold Version
Hi, I am having a issue with screen resolution on my 4K tv. I have a Sony 4K tv that is also great for gaming. I also own Strategic Command which looks great. Panzer Corps doesn't look good at all. The game fills the screen, but the text is to small to read and screen icons also. It doesn't matter what screen res I go to its the same small text. As more and more people play on 4K tv's I was wondering if there is a work around to this issue. Like I said Strategic Command doesn't have this issue so maybe it can be addressed. Thanks love your games....
Re: Video Resolution Issue Gold Version
not an issue as such, more of how windows is designed and the game at the time of release, the default layout of windows is and was always meant to be viewed at 96DPI or dots per inch, first to try is patch the game to the latest version and see what is the higher it can run at, this will give the first and only clue on what max size the game was designed and patched for.
while it can be made to go much larger and most game support it, others don't always, not saying this is one of them either, but once you go to a given size of screen and resolution, it brings in other difficulties that most designers at the time of making most games were never dreaming of, or programing around either and worked to a given standard at the time, so age mostly makes a game more or less likely to support a given new tech by date of release, but not always, just sometimes...
DPI scaling level alters the display to fill the screen with larger programs that were meant or programmed to use that or the size used, but most weren't, causing scaling errors.
as every program is different same as every screen and resolution also, it's hard to say what works for one will work for all, have already seen Dell doing some 8k monitors so understand that some users will be user even higher spec ones in the not so nearer future, but most have to understand, there will or could be some factor they first need to understand.
while some will work and scale well, others won't, and apart from altering the way the whole game is displayed, almost a re write for some, there's not a lot most developers can do for older games that don't scale too well on high end tech...
the link gives a few options to try, while most work for some, not all will be suitable either for everyone or there hardware, so like all new and or high end tech, it's takes a bit of fiddling about to get some games to work, one reason why most if not some like me don't use it as yet, if most of the games and apps and programs we or i still use are older types.
rule of thumb for me is, if it says it will work on win xp., or 7 and 8 and win 10, then go looking for the highest supported res on release, as some print it, others don't.
good luck and hope one way works for you.
from my point of view as well, a TV isn't as well supported as a monitor is also, as the amount of detail a monitor can do normally supports a higher amount of hardware, where as a TV doesn't have the same capability, one of the many reasons why monitors tend to be of such a higher price than TV's
it also depends on what type of game you play and how well that game is made and supported also, as the link above shows, a xbox or ps4 would be wasted on a high end monitor, and any games which supports 4k and is programmed correctly should look much better on a high end gaming monitor.
just for some examples

Re: Video Resolution Issue Gold Version
Thanks for your quick response.... I read your reply and checked the first link, I then right clicked on the Panzer Corp icon , went to compatibility settings and changed the DPI setting. It worked well enough to play the game. Thanks again for your quick response and assistance.
