The others have soft target attack and defense bonus, so they are useful for my PzIV's, but not against armour, eg Pz III or Stugs later on. Yes, there is one AT commander, but the others are against soft targets. Guderian has that stun effect, too.
Editing commanders is only doable as mod. I’d keep the campaign as vanilla as possible without mod launcher nagging.
I bet we are getting more Axis commanders with upcoming official content anyway, so let us be patient. AT-commanders are more likely later in mid-end war, like a StuG ace.

Fair point. I guess with Case Blue, we'd get Otto Carius and Michael Wittmann, maybe even Rudel for a Ju87g tankbuster. Even though that would open up issues with the whole Nazi-Waffen-SS thing. I mean, Wittmann and Rudel were diehard fascists. Sure, they are historical facts and parts of the conflict, but putting them there as a "reward" feels just off to me. I dont mind Guderian, Rommel, Adolf Galland etc - but fully-fledged and committed Nazis are a different tune. Maybe just give them different names and make them editable, so people so inclined can change names. Tricky stuff.

The Lordz from PC didn’t bother much either to sponsor Rudel throughout the DLC campaigns. It was a little too much hype for me either. I think OOB has kept such heroism unspectacular enough so far, so I’m not worried for whoever will join the ranks as long as certain symbols are left out.
We are still one year ahead with this campaign of the official content. That could be still countered by at least higher experience for auxiliary units or simply more income. As long as we can bust through this green tank jungle in mother Russia in the given turns, it's all fine.

Yep. Wouldnt mind if he were not such a die-hard Nazi. I can have Guderian and Rommel lead my forces any time. But those. Well, Wittmann is oddly popular with the Americans and British. Guess they dont mind their Nazi scum as long as they are natural born tank-hunters. (Which he was. Damn.) Cant argue with skill, I guess. But I wish this just wouldnt taint every game, kind of. Or maybe I just bother too much.

@Erik: Zhitomir works nicely. You get a draw unless you take Kiev - is that right? Feels inappropriate.
Leningrad - same as before. Too much arty in the city, cant get close to reach those arty siege positions. Impossible to win. You really need to tweak this one. Suggestion - long range arty instead of those aux mortars. Less arty in the city, more bunkers. This isnt any fun.

The campaign was great until I got to Crete, then it just stalls on the loading screen. Any ideas to make it move along.

Hm, the bar does not fill up? Then you should maybe restart the game. Maybe even your PC altogether. Clears the memory.
If the error persists, post your system specs and describe it with more detail. Or reinstall / re-download Eriks campaign.
Or cheat to the next mission. Crete can be hell.
How do you cheat to the next mission?
I have restarted the game, and even restarted the campaign. The hang with the bar not stating at all still happens.

@cwapp: Attach the file, dont post it. But you shouldnt have any problems, 16gigs of ram and those powerful cpu and graphic card should do the job.

@Erik: I am tapping out for Leningrad Siege, again. Two BB King George, a cruiser, several heavy arty and fortresses right in the firing line of those siege positions? Really? Impossible. Anything near those positions gets annihilated, cant even get close. If you had any special strategy in mind, tell me, Erik. I just dont see how you can do this apart from taking major core losses. I mean, Crete was bad, but winnable. But this is just not working. Move those siege positions back.

@cwapp1967
You could rather attach the output_log.txt file located in the Order of Battle - WW2_Data folder here. This often gives a clue why the game fails to load. I recommend deleting the file first then run the game, load the campaign save and then the Crete scenario to get mainly the necessary information.
I've cheated myself to Crete with v1.6 which loads fine for me.

@cwapp1967
I forgot you can't create attachments in this forum until a certain number of posts, can you?
Anyway, I don't like this error here:

Code: Select all

**** NEW GAME LOAD ****

(Filename: C:/buildslave/unity/build/artifacts/StandalonePlayerGenerated/UnityEngineDebug.cpp Line: 56)

REPLAY CURRENT ALLIANCE 3

(Filename: C:/buildslave/unity/build/artifacts/StandalonePlayerGenerated/UnityEngineDebug.cpp Line: 56)

libpng error: IEND: CRC error
DivideByZeroException: Division by zero
at Map2DGenerator.SetTerrainHexTexture (.Hex hex, Int32 layer, UnityEngine.Material material, Int32 tile) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0
In my game, it looks like this when I start/load the Crete scenario:

Code: Select all

**** NEW GAME LOAD ****

(Filename: C:/buildslave/unity/build/artifacts/StandalonePlayerGenerated/UnityEngineDebug.cpp Line: 56)

REPLAY CURRENT ALLIANCE 3

(Filename: C:/buildslave/unity/build/artifacts/StandalonePlayerGenerated/UnityEngineDebug.cpp Line: 56)

Failed to get pixels of splat texture

(Filename: Line: 181)
I usually get plenty of these splat texture errors, but anything loads fine otherwise.

Well, I have no real idea about this libpng error you got there. My only amateurish answer is: reinstall the game and see if it works then.

Yeah, I can't remember how many posts you need before you are allowed to attach files like jpg, zip, and txt files. 10, 20, 50? Not the best idea for beginners if they are supposed to post dxdiag files or something.

@cwapp1967
No idea if you are up to to reinstall the game, but I got a replacement file for the B41-42 campaign. Exchange this file from the archive in the custom campaign folder to continue from Metaxas Line to Minsk. Maybe it helps.

@cwapp: Just attach a zip like Horst did.
And tell us if that fixed anything. Need more people to test this baby.

Leningrad:
Reduced Soviet resource by half, doubled German income.
Added more Luftwaffe command points.
Reduced Soviet artillery.

Sevastopol Assault:
Added more Luftwaffe command points.
Reduced Soviet artillery.

Zithomir:
Changed Kiev objective conditions

All scenarios:
Changed objectives to flip-flop (for capturing-losing-recapturing)

What I ended up doing was uninstalling everything and reinstalling. Everything seems to be working now.
Thanks to everyone for the help.

Almost forgot to post.
Thanks as usual, Erik. You are the man. :D
Leningrad - works better, but I think the core mechanic you need to fix is not more power to the Wehrmacht and less to the Red Army. Siege points A,B,C need to be moved back. It is fine that the Russian arty in Leningrad is commandingly powerful. But those siege points should be 2-3 hexes back. Right now, one misstep costs me one core unit easily. Everything else is fine, 22 air supply is good, dont need more. Those are 3 Stukas, four fighters, one recon (or two?). Fine. Siege points A,B,C are too close. Thats the issue. Leave everything else, Erik. Without moving these, the mission stays kind of unwinnable.

@Erik: Okay, I managed to pull Leningrad off now. 20 turns, took all arty positions and placed the mortars. Still minor victory?
I'd still say that those western siege positions are a bit too close.
On to Zhurivka now.
One more thing on air power: I can understand that some missions require more air control points and if this campaign would progress to 44, air command points should shrink to reflect the decline of the Luftwaffe in numbers and quality (basically a few aces and some boys then). But during this campaign, 22-23 air supply as a steady standard number should be good for the Russia campaign. If you keep this steady, I can build up an experienced flyer corps and have a good chance against the Red Airforce. Wobbling around with the air supply for no good reason (didnt need the 32 in Leningrad) feels off: Either I cannot use them in full or half of my aces stay in the hangar.
Still enjoying this a lot.

Zhurivka works nicely (finished 14 turns, took all objectives, still minor victory?), starting Zolotonosha now. Both missions still have insufficient supply in the starting area, I always have to take 2-4 towns and wait 3-5 turns to deploy everything I want. Right now, I have 11 unused land command points. Thats two light inf, 1 light AT, 1 light arty (no transport, a full strike team) I cannot deploy.

@Erik: Zolotonosha is done, 11 turns. Apart from the supply issues at the start, everything is fine.
The supply problems pops up again in Vyazma, for air units, too. Cant deploy everything I want because there are not enough airfields around. 3 supply left. Same with army command points, even though I am now kind of used to that.
