But if you GOTTA render it for 3D anyway...

So I'm curious how you are going to replace "two units puffing at each other" with "nice real black and white photographs". How exactly would you want the main tactical map to work?Musketeer wrote:Instead two units puffing at each other most history lovers prefer definitely nice real black and white photographs of units instead of 3D render. Me too btw.
I'm 99.9% repeating sure it's going to be turn based strategy.RVallant wrote:So,
this remains Turn based right?
We're not going to go all action-flash, company of heroes, boom boom or anything like that? >_>
Also, I am really keen to see how you guys are going to handle the campaigns. I was a massive fan of the Grand Campaigns, they were fantastic but had a lot of untapped potential in how you could have gone with it. For example, a more a-historical Eastern Front and so on. Now you will have the technology to basically go even further with that in a way. Though, I'd be very surprised if anything akin to the GC was there on launch.
I know, you won`t start it with Wrocław again.Kerensky wrote:I'm not sure what kind of systems, or campaigns, PzC2 will have at this point, but if there's a possibility for another Grand Campaign...
I very muh second this. I hope 3D for the sake of 3D doesn't sacrifice anything in the process. And hopefully adds something that makes it worth it.tmoj2000 wrote:When I hear "3D" I start to shiver....
Many strategy games that moved to 3D ended with worse visuals and less user friendliness...... (and 3D also often means more computer resources needed and thus a slowing down of the game)
It would be good of Slitherine to share with us some visuals so that we understand what they have in mind and so that we can share our impressions with them....
the KISS principle is good..... keep that in mind
Great Conceptual Idea!, I like it very much, Yes...having a multi-varied selection of 'Maps' & 'Unit Placement Configurations', would definitely take the Hum-Drum-Blahh boringness out of repeatedly replaying the same configured situation over & over & over again!. Or as can be said... I likely won't buy PC2 unless it has more variety in the form of procedurally generated battlefield maps.
I am confused between scenarios you can give units free replacements to bring them up to full strength.Retributar wrote:Great Conceptual Idea!, I like it very much, Yes...having a multi-varied selection of 'Maps' & 'Unit Placement Configurations', would definitely take the Hum-Drum-Blahh boringness out of repeatedly replaying the same configured situation over & over & over again!. Now!...1stly, while im here...for myself at least I would like to have more control of the "Prestige" aspect in this game. For instance, at the Sergeant level, the game is easy of course, and the allocation of "Prestige" is very generous.
2ndly, at the Lieutenant level, the game is more challenging, and the "Prestige" is good at the earlier stages of the game sequence, but...further along "Prestige" almost completely dries up, making completion of the scenarios extremely difficult if not almost impossible. Meaning that, Repairing-Damaged-Unit's becomes increasingly incredibly difficult. Eventually I'm entering the scenario with some damaged unit's included in my setup and later on I am unable to even fill the complement of units allowable for the task at hand. I would like to be able to adjust the "Prestige" levels where I require it to be able to complete the game. I like a challenge, but not an impossible task.
Even if I played excrusiatingly well and minimized my losses as much as possible, I was unable to repair damaged units as the game went on. Also from Scenario to Scenario I was unable to field the full complement of units for a given situation.
Can an adjustment be made to accommodate this festering point?.
You can do it on Panzer Corps:WLM wrote:In this version would you include the ability to re-name units? I miss that aspect from the old Panzer General. I enjoyed naming units that won special honors.
