Suggestion: Allow Infantry to stay in vehicles

Hello Slitherine,

Afghanistan ´11 is a truly unique and great strategy game but alot of my game time is spent with loading/unloading infantry units to MRAPs/ASVs which can become tedious especially when commanding larger operations. Please consider to allow infantry to perform various actions (most important intel gain from villages, but also IED search) without the need to exit the vehicle.

Also a menu option would be helpful which prevents auto-unloading infantry units from transports when reaching HQ/FOB in order to refuel/resupply.

I agree with the second point, units auto-unloading after deselection can be kind of annoying, but I don't think that infantry being able to IED search from inside a vehicle is a good thing, there is a risk involved with getting the unit out which means they may be hit by and IED or an ambush when getting out of the vehicle to sweep, which I believe is a pretty good representation of what it would be like to actually search for an IED. We already have a vehicle that clears IED's itself.

Yes we all know how counter-IED operations are performed, also keep in mind the vehicle you mentioned, the Husky can´t locate VOIEDs in unfriendly villages but is responsible for roadside IEDs. Nevertheless for me it is a clear case of over-complicating the micro-managing part. Most times you´re disembark the infantry in the village centre which never have IED´s, collect intel and sweep for booby traps, then you board the vehicles again. Over and Over again. If modelling the vulnerability of infantry during counter-IED efforts is so important for you at least allow Intel collection while being in a vehicle or helicopter. I´m not talking about granting the ability to the vehicle itself.

Also I´m not talking about the auto-deselect of units which isn´t that annoying but when you return with your vehicles or helicopters to the HQ or FOB in order to make just a quick resupply to continue CIMIC operations in villages, anti-drug, or what else.

Issuing countless embark/disembark commands every round doesn´t hit my definition of being intuitive.

Good points allround, trying to keep all happy all the time is the challenge, so we are putting together another SO tab in the Intel screen wherein you will be able to construct ceratin SOP sentences for E.g. Whenever I disembark Infanrty in a village they auto conduct a sweep , once a UN shipment has been delivered head staright back to HQ.

So, you, can choose the SOP that suits you :shock:
