Custom Transport Question...

Post by parmenio »

Is there any control to be had over the overlay icon that's displayed on the map when moving the mouse further than the unit's basic movement rate (without transport)?
Everything appears as "movetruck.png" at the moment.

I can obviously mod that particular overlay image but I would like more than one. For example I have infantry in column (one transport type), artillery limbered (second transport type).

Hi,
I am not sure to have understood well your question.

There is also "movehalftrack.png" :

Logically, there should be "moveallterrain.png" and "movehorse.png" for the transports.
It is particularly strange when we have an horsetransport to have a truck for symbol of movement.
It is also necessary to note that only the Russians have the privilege to have an horsetransport. :(
Instead of the "move.png", there should be ideally "moveleg.png","movealpine.png","moveski.png"... for the unit's basic movement.
This aspect of the game ( the means of transportation ) unfortunately seems to have been a little neglected and should have been a little more gone deeper into. :(

You appear to have understood my question perfectly :) ...

How do I then get a transport unit to end up with the "movehalftrack" icon?
Is it down to the Movement Type value in the equipment file?
i.e. if I give it a value of IDS_MOVT_HALF_TRACKED ("1")?

There won't be any half-tracks (or trucks for that matter) in my mod, so I can change both the icon and the movement.pzdat file.

It seems impossible to change :(
It has to be to code in the PanzerCorps.exe of the game :?:

Here you see how it is actually with truck(wheeled) transport :

Here is another more demonstrative example.

Actually you don't know the transport type (of course we can very well suppose which it is) :

Here it seems more obvious which is the type of transport :

I also had a similar idea. And that would be wonderful.
But now this designation is soft or hard target.
