PC : Turn based WW2 goodness in the mold of Panzer General. This promises to be a true classic!

rumors "available" about the Panzer Corps successor?

Post by Basti »

Guys, I can't wait too long for the new "Panzer Corps II" anymore.
I'm really hooked and just bought the last missing DLC which I didn`t play yet: Sealion - which is really great.
Please could you give some info about the coming game, or some ideas that flow into it, so that my imagination is set in motion ... :D

Try "Open General" in between - 132 campaigns! ;)

Open General covers eras I'm interested in but I found the mechanics obscure and frustrating.
I wanted to like it - am I missing something?

It is definitely more complex... I suggest you try tutorial campaign with 3 maps. There is "tutorial.pdf" in main directory. There are definitely mechanics in OG which i like - with TAB you turn on/off hexes which sees enemy units etc.

Okay, thank you for the suggestion. I played "order of battle pacific" which has nice sound and graphics, but the gameplay (esp. the supply system) can get a bit lengthy at times.

Recently, I (and many others!) made excellent suggestions how to improve PC when asked directly by Staff, then most of us were very disappointed when few of these excellent suggestions and fixes were carried out for the latest patch(1.30).
Hopefully, they'll show up in PC II, but I make the cynical note that that strategy of a new iteration was more profitable then giving them out free as a comprehensive patch to interested long time loyal game purchasers and fans.
There, I said it.

Hi,
yes, hopefully they implement the suggestions in PC II. I don't mind paying some money for a good game. The guys from slitherine want to make a living and if we get a new game with improved gameplay and graphics, I'm fine.
Especially if you look at the hundreds of hours "killed" by the game, 30 + Euros are okay :-)

Appropos "killed": I like the irony behind the abbreviation "PC" for Panzer Corps. "Political Correct" for a war game ... hehehe ;-)))

Damn! This is for free ;-) My precious time...
I just played the tutorial. Yes, more complex. Because adjacant infanterie starts fighting against you. Because tanks can (under special cirmunstances) fire several rounds per turn.
Only let down is the tiny graphics. I had to pull the monitor several inches closer to recognise the units.
Thanks again for the suggestion.

Sure ;). Open General has one little visual bonus though - when you attack with units, they turn around ! PCs are not, they are just moving around.

Bw. if you like it really, really, REALLY hardcore and complex, there is also excellent free project http://www.shrapnelgames.com/Camo_Works ... _page.html ;). Not long ago upgraded to ver 10.0. This is last game you will ever need ;).
