Two, one day, three game, comps in Manchester 1st/2nd Nov
After a very successful first run out of the three game one day 650 point 15mm format at the UK Games Expo in Birmingham there will be a repeat as part of Game 08 in Manchester.
The format is three 2 1/2 hour games in one day, 650 points, 15mm, 5' by 3' tables, full FoG rules but the maximum number of terrain pieces either player can select is reduced by 1 (so 2-3 rather than 2-4).
There will be prizes for each day's competition and additional prizes for the best overall performance across both days.
Entries can be made via the Game 08 website http://www.gamecon.co.uk entry to the comp is £ 5.00 per day but this is in addition to entry to the show as a whole which costs £7 for one day and £13 for the weekend.
Game 08 is a large show with all types of gaming on show ranging from miniatures to roleplaying and card games.

I realise the date is not ideal but I have to work with the dates of the showpetedalby wrote:The format sounds really good.
Unfortunately with Roll Call and Warfare both firmly in the diary I'm not sure I'll be able to make it.
Hope it goes well though.

There should be a similar one day comp at the Game Expo in Birmingham next May.
The last time I looked (which was about a week ago) there were I think 6 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday but a lot of people who have expressed interest were not on the entry list and some who I had not heard anything from were.
I am sure we will get a decent turn out both days, wether all 30 spaces will be filled I am not sure.

Hi guys
As I have moved over to FOG from DBMM I find that I am lacking a few troops for a full FOG army. I do not paint myself so have to wait for suitable opportunities on Ebay.
I was hoping to use a LRR army for this competition but only have EIR. Would it cause problems as long as I told my opponents what I was fielding even if the troops were not quite correct? Alternatively I could try and borrow an army from the club I have recently attended.
Cheers.

I don't think anyone would complain about using EIR as LRR, OK the shields would be wrong but the troops would be much the same.Robert241167 wrote:Hi guys

Lists need to be with me by the 23rd,
At present numbers are not as good as I had hoped
Several people have contacted me and asked for the link to the event site but then not booked.
If it encourages people to attend I should point out that prizes for this event are being sponsored by Osprey. I have been informed that a nice box of goodies is on its way to me to be handed out as prizes. If you are sitting on the fence, get off and get booked. If you are already booked chase your mates and get them booked.

Sorry to miss this Hammy...the format at Birmingham was excellent and the games a lot of fun...but as someone said earlier, datewise its a bit close to Warfare and Roll Call.
On a similar issue, we here in the Dorset/Somerset area would like to host a FOG comp next year...is there a time of year at present a bit less congested with shows etc that woud be more worthwhile considering?

I realise that the date is less than ideal
It is, however out of my control.
When the event was first planned Roll Call was still without a date so it wasn't so bad.
As for next year's schedule I believe that Nik is working on putting together the best list we can to go on the BHGS site. You may want to check with him and see when there might be gaps.
