Tournament Announcement: Advance the Colors
When: Saturday, September 13th from 9am to 9pm (3 – approximately 3.5 hour rounds)
Where: The Heritage Center of Clark County: 117 South Fountain Ave. Springfield, Ohio 45502
More info at: http://www.hmgsgl.com/index.php?id=ATC
Points: 800 in 15mm and 700 in 25mm.
Various concerns:
- 25mm games will be played on an 8'x5' table with 1MU=40mm
- One list only. There has been some discussion of two lists as a possibility, but not this time.
Who: (These are the names I have so far. Please chime in with additions or subtractions between now and September 13th.)
15mm:
Dave Perry
Clay Knuckles
Andy Swingle
Allen Campbell
Pat Pursley
Fred Daniel
Brian Woolard
Eric McKenzie
Dick Hurchanik
Chuck Hines
25mm:
Steve Phallen
Philip Knapke
Note: I have not listed myself as a 25mm player, so we actually have the possibility of 3 25mm players. Hopefully there’s one flying under the radar out there.

Ok, I was unintentionaly vague in the previous post.
Could all of you whom I have listed please confirm your plans for attending?
I want to continue with the plan to have a 25mm tournament but if there are an odd number of 15mm players we could have a "situation." I'd like to prepare for this in advance.

I'll still be there. I'll bring my 25mm army but am perfectly fine with using a 15mm loaner army if it is necessary or it makes your planning easier.hercimurthemediocre wrote:Ok, I was unintentionaly vague in the previous post.

A VERY important note on the start time.
Disregard what I may have told some of you individualy about the "approximate" nature of the 9 am start time.
The ATC convention schedule (still?) shows us with a 10am start time. Please be there ready to start by 9am.
We simply MUST start at 9 am as the room we're in closes at 9pm. So, 3 x 3.5 hour rounds with breaks in between means, well, you do the math.
Also, so far I have confirmations from:
(15mm)
Andy Swingle
Allen Campbell
Pat Pursley
Fred Daniel
Eric McKenzie
Dennis Lockhart
Chuck Hines
(25mm)
Steve Phallen
Phillip Knapke
Still looking for a definitive word on:
Dave Perry (doesn't belong to forum)
Clay Knuckles (still makin the trip clay?)
Dick Hurchanik (going on what I've hear from Jeske)
Rich Hartley (a definite maybe in 25mm)
Doug Anderson (going to Cleveland for 25mm DBM?)
I'm sure there will be a few suprises but I think it's safe to say that we'll have at least 12 players.
I'm pretty sure at this point that matchups will be done in a truly "open" format (random draw.) My objective will be to see that none of the gang of four (Eric, Allen, Pat, Fred) have to play each other the first round (of course, maybe they WANT to play each other.) Same goes for the Columbus and Newark contingents.
(If the 25mm tournament does indeed go off, everyone plays everyone)
So, I hope I haven't turned FYI into TMI. Hopefully my next post will be with good news on Rich and or Doug.

yes, but I say ? because I can tell he's not 100% sure. He's changed his mind and then changed it back already. Just holding out hoping he'll change it again.Andy1972 wrote:From what Doug was saying.. he was going to Cleveland.

you'll be covered Flameberge.
Like i said.. this army list is fun and very challenging.. Against a shooty army.. Keep your rear support and IC in centeral area.. Against pike armies.. try to turn a flank. The armored spear can hold with rear support with the ic with them against pike... They will loose eventually.. turn a flank.. Don't extend yourself too far.. Anywho.. I got them ready to go.

Po-tae-toes! Mash 'em up and put 'em in a stew!

absolutely, I'm the odd man out if there's an odd numberflameberge wrote:Like I said I'll be bringing my 25mm army but if the 25mm Tourney doesn't go off I'm hoping you can fit me in the 15mm one using the loaner German Army Andy1972 kindly offered.
looks like right now we will still be one short for 25mm but there is a slight chance still.
bring your 25s if it's not too much trouble, who knows.

Now that I’ve heard back from (almost) everyone, here are the names that I have at the moment unless there are any last minute surprises.
15mm (10 players)
Brian Woolard
Dennis Lockhart
Jim Chapin
Andy Swingle
Allen Campbell
Pat Pursley
Fred Daniel
Eric McKenzie
Dick Hurchanik
Chuck Hines
25mm (4 players)
Steve Phallen
Philip Knapke
Doug Anderson
(yours truly) Jeff Fletcher
(14 total, a vast improvement over Origins and I'm rather pleased.)
With these names, we have even numbers. I’m still a bit nervous about what happens if we have an odd number of 15mm players (Clay, I’m still not sure if you’re coming but we'll be delighted to have you if you can make it.) Hopefully I can persuade a 15mm player to agree to “swing both ways” if need be (no, that’s not a hint Mr. "Swing"le.) I will have at least two 25mm armies ready to go (Early Crusader or Phyrric/Macedonian type.)
NOTE: The Crusaders will have a full 24 stands of Mobs (why? because I have them!) and is designed to loose (or at least not do TOO well) However, it seems to do better in tournament play than my Pyrrhic army which is designed to win (go figure.)
Lastly, a few reminders:
Please be ready to go at 9am (doors open at 8am.) We need to be finished by 9pm and a late start will likely cause problems in finishing games.
We are playing with 800 points in 15mm and 700 points in 25mm.
Looking forward to seeing all of you on Saturday, especially those who I'll be meeting for the first time.
Thanks,
JF
