Two Glitches Even W/ Patch 2.9.9

Post by richfed »

1 - When cycling through units, aircraft in hangars are often over-looked

2 - Enemy Units on city hexes are not visible from the air. If you fly a plane over the regions adjacent to cities, you can see enemy units in the nearby hexes, but not on the city itself. You cannot bomb the city hex unless it is being attacked by ground forces.

These are referring to the Blitzkrieg campaign, though the issues may be present in other campaigns as well.

I think 2 is by design. It's the same thing for enemy units in jungles and forests; they need a friendly unit adjacent to be spotted for artillery and bombers. I am playing Rising Sun right now and that is how it works. I will look for 1 and see if I can spot that. By any chance, are you expecting an aircraft unit to pop up in the cycle if it has just landed in that turn?

Ya defintely not a bug. I always move infantry up to urban hexes and stuff to be able to see if there are badguys lurking within. Make sense cause same in real life planes can't see hidden enemy troops.

The first note about the hangers, I hazily remember my game cycling through aircraft in hangers not given orders. You can also just look at the map at end of turn to check hanger icons and click on them to check planes inside.

1. I do not have a problem with that in my game which is on 2.9.9. Units that are eligible to launch are selected as I cycle through my units.
2. I believe units with the "concealable" trait such as most infantry will not be revealed when in forest, jungle, or urban hexes unless a ground unit bumps into them. Maybe a screenshot would help from the OP to describe the issue better.

Here, this will settle item 2. It's from the manual. Artillery and aircraft depend on spotters in this situation, which makes sense.

Good enough! I don't remember it being that way, but I am very old!!

Aircraft in hangars, though, I am certain is amiss. Not always. Sometimes cycle-through works. No, I am not expecting just landed aircraft to appear. Just those that a ready to take-off. It's not a big deal. They are usually in my mind. Just thought I'd mention it.

I'm going to look for that aircraft in hangars issue.

I put two fighters in a hanger for a couple of turns and the unit cycling showed me them both turns. Seems to be working.

No glitches here.

Me neither. richfed, the only thing I can think of, which happens to me sometimes, is that I look into a hangar and wonder why a plane is not available, forgetting that I just landed it! Maybe this is what you are experiencing at times when you "next unit" cycle. The plane that you think is being skipped actually is not available again until your next turn.
