I have been playing the GC on and off for a while on my iPad.
I just started Prohkorovka, and I have not been getting much Prestige for a while now. Apparently, there is a soft cap on how much prestige you gain, which I presume is impacting me greatly given my rather buff Core.
My questions are:
1) Where is information about the Soft Cap in the game? How do I tell what my average unit Prestige is? How do I tell what the impact of that is on my Prestige awards?
2) Is there any way to disable or reduce the Soft Cap on the iPad?

Answers to the best of my knowledge (applies only to iPad):
(1) Nowhere, at least not directly. To find out what impact the soft cap currently has on your prestige awards, capture a flagged non-victory hex and see how much prestige you gain. Divide that number by 50. The result is the percentage of prestige that you are still earning. The smaller that percentage, the further over the cap you have gone. Unless there has been a recent change, the cap begins to kick in at 400 points per deployed unit. Overstrengthened units are worth more points that their 10-strength counterparts.
(2) Even with the 1.30 update, the only way to turn the soft cap off is to play with the old 1.14 rules. This option is available under advanced difficulty settings. Unfortunately, that will also disable other features that you may not wish to lose.
Personally, I prefer to play with the soft cap on, as it forces me to avoid buffing my core any more than absolutely necessary. For a tough scenario like Prokhorovka, I would worry less about "going over," especially at the outset--the effects of the soft cap will decrease during the scenario as your units take damage.

Re: Soft Cap on iPad
Thanks for the reply. I discovered that you can get a tooltip by holding your finger on your Prestige number which tells you both the current Prestige per turn for your mission as well as the impact of the Soft Cap.
To be clear, I don't object to the Soft Cap as a game design. I object to it silently devouring my Prestige without me having any clue it existed. It should be up front while you are managing your Core at the beginning of missions.
At this point, I'm pretty stuck wth my bad (for Soft Cap) decisions due to Prestige crunch. I'm going to just do 1944 with double Prestige. Eventually. This discovery combined with the grind end of 1943 has made me wat to take a break from Panzer Corps.

That's a great discovery! This must be a new feature for 1.30. Very handy indeed!Jamey00 wrote:I discovered that you can get a tooltip by holding your finger on your Prestige number which tells you both the current Prestige per turn for your mission as well as the impact of the Soft Cap.

Re: Soft Cap on iPad
Soft cap tooltip was introduced in V1.30.
Even though I don't like soft cap (for the same reasons Jamey00 gives) I like the tooltip because I can see what's going on.
For ipad users who also use PC, the soft cap can be switched off on the PC using a mod (Nikki posted one recently).
On a PC I prefer switching Softcap off and adjusting the prestige slider or using self-imposed challenges (one upgrade per scenario per unit class works quite well)
