Rome versus Carthage (many pics, some text)

Joe and I fought our second FoG battle using two starter armies. It was an excellent battle. Loads of fun. Until I lost.

What did I learn? FoG is not DBM. Ouch.

Looks like fun! Man oh man, that is a huge table. What have you covered it with? It looks like astroturf...

I like your terrain, too. That one field with the low stone wall around it looks great :)

We played on a 6'x4' part of Joe's 20'x6' wargaming table. I added a picture of his wargaming Mecca to the end of my battle report:

The mat we played on was new. I think it is made by the Warhammer people. 6x4 for about $30 US. It was the nicest gaming surface I've every played on.

I did have one question about something that happened. In one picture you can see that my spear have routed into the flank of my Numidian light horse. The rout distance took them 1/2 of the way through the Numidians. We disrupted the Numidians, but just pushed them back. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the right thing to do, but it was late and I couldn't quickly find out how to resolve the move.

Edit: I think I found my answer. The spear should have been moved all the way through the light horse even though this exceeded their rout move distance. We were correct in disrupting the light horse.

Oh, and the bases aren't flocked as I am in the midst of a massive re-basing project. Refuse to play with unpainted figs, but will make do with unflocked bases.

links are down on this and as a newb I would love to see it, Im assuming they were removed for space reasons, but if there is a link that works I would love to see the starter armies in action.

going to starting playing a game this weekend I hope.
