OOB WWII - Blitzkrieg ... PzKpfw Mark V?
Howdy Grognards,
I am still plowing through the U.S. Pacific campaign and have not tried the new Blitzkrieg campaign, but I did load the scenario editor to browse through the Wehrmacht equipment. Nice list, but where are the Panzerkampfwagen Mark V Panther main battle tanks, Ausf D, A, & G?
Also the Mark VI Tiger II / King Tiger?
Perhaps they are there but just not available in the equipment list in the scenario editor?
Just wondering. Thanks,
-Kerry-

The timeline hasn't reached that far yet. Blitzkrieg ends in December '41.

Mark IV F2 and H are there, as are Mark VI Tiger 1 tanks. So I don't buy the end of campaign date as the fixed standard for the equip available in the scenario editor!
But it's as good an excuse as any I guess.

Oh, I see
Well, it's a valid point in my books, still. You don't wait before finishing all the models, even if you don't need them, to release an early campaign.

It seems to me there are armament created until 1942 (inclusive) in the editor.

However, Pz IVH were produced from 1943.kondi754 wrote:It seems to me there are armament created until 1942 (inclusive) in the editor.
Withdraws from what I wrote above.

Meh - it's a game. Not an advanced military tactical simulation!kondi754 wrote: However, Pz IVH were produced from 1943.

Withdraws from what I wrote above. It's fun as is, I was just curious about some of the equip discrepancies (planned or oversight, or still in progress - whatever the case, I like the game!)
I assure you that compliance with the historical realities is very important for many people here . If I were a fan of strategy games in general it would not matter to me, but I'm interested in specific games from the period of 2nd WW, so I expect from the developers, that will take care of every aspect of the game. I pay for it and I demand.

And that's why I'm here.

Oh, I'm aware many seek historical accuracy! No problem with that. Just wanted to make sure everyone knew I wasn't complaining about the unit discrepancies (yet) - just curious. To me these are games which must first and foremost be fun and challenging to play. But after having devoted over 20 years to playing games in this genre and studying WWI and WWII in general, I would also prefer equipment lists as accurate as possible.
One thing I have always been curious about though regarding many gaming grognards - if historical accuracy is of primary importance, why play the game at all? If any game outcome doesn't exactly match the historical outcome, then many cry "foul" - but what is the point then of playing? Just read about the battles or watch historical documentaries or movies about them!
Another of life's curiosities, I suppose!

The Tiger was created for the Japanese Tiger tank in the original Pacific campaign. The other 1942+ German units were created for Winter War.
The list will be completed eventually

Every aspect of the game is important but, of course, the gameplay is the most important. I understand it is unreal and impractical to hold on the reality, and the game must give a certain freedom to enjoy the player, but I wish it was as close as possible to the historical truth.kerrylancaster wrote:Oh, I'm aware many seek historical accuracy! So I agree with you.

Tiger tanks weren't available till August 1942 (and then only in limited numbers), Panther tanks made their debut in mid 1943, Tiger IIs (King Tigers) July 1944. If you are going to make a realistic WWII game you need to follow the timeline for when things happened.
