Two things in OOB would make life nicer.
1. Undo move. When playing on a laptop and moving the cursor to check destinations, I've had the pad register a "tap" unintentionally and move the unit where I DON"T want it to go. Since you give combat previews when moving the cursor next to enemy units, it's not like using undo just because you don't like the results. You could even put a limit on it where you can't undo a move if the unit encounters a hidden enemy unit.
2. Defensive artillery support for attacking units in range. I'm surprised to see that this is not an option. Limit this by saying defensive support is only allowed when offensive fire is not used when it is your turn to move. And have a pop up appear with the request "Do you want to provide defensive fire for this unit." With the options yes, no, not this turn. Where not this turn means you don't want the unit to provide any defensive fire that turn. This would also allow selective defensive fire support.
This would help when you're playing a defensive scenario where artillery is used to play a significant role in real life.

"Undo" for sure! Can't tell you how many times - when caught up in the heat of the moment - I clicked the wrong unit or hex. This is particularly true when a ground & air unit occupy the same hex. That would be so very helpful for us "geezers".

Please do "Undo" (why not in option
) !

Re: Two features I'd like to see
Undo has been on the list here couple of times. But I guess the devs have trouble integrating it with the AI and the engine and its not that high on their priority list. I think one of them wrote the AI is calculating constantly behind your turn as well, so undo would add a lot of memory churn. But those are just guesses, I could be terribly wrong.
I have picked up the habit of saving in a separate file at the beginning of every turn. It seems anally retentive at first, but has proven to be a good idea. Try it.

Re: Two features I'd like to see
Isn't there an autosave at the beginning of every turn anyway? Useful.
Re: Two features I'd like to see
Yeah, but to REALLY undo things and horrible mistakes I made, I need to go back sometimes 2 - 5 turns. So I save "Moscow Turn 1, Turn 2, etc.". This allowed me to salvage quite a lot of mistakes and save time. And with the sometimes frustrating objectives "Kill xx units", I could go back 10 Turns and begin deploying other units to begin hunting stray conscripts early on. I know, this shouldnt be the case, but I think the game kind of forces you to do that and it has saved me from a lot of frustrations.mhladnik wrote:Isn't there an autosave at the beginning of every turn anyway? Oh, I see. In the context of the original post, the Undo Move function would not help you here either

Re: Two features I'd like to see
Undo is always fine to have, but I got used to the falsely understood orders of my units sometimes. We have to take responsibility for our hasty finger-actions.
Oh, and it never hurts to do manual saves on important phases during a scenario. Never!
