klayeckles bosporan late 30/64 vs allendeuce bosporan (218) 54/48
avoided the roman allies and slammed every cav. into his, winning a slight numbers game, then busting thru some gaps to get flanking moves on the remaining cav. the roman allies were like...Why did they call us over here?

And they are still asking the same question, for which I have no good answer.
Good game.

Re: Special league Tournament
klayeckles Bosporan 27/66 vs mikemerchant gepid 43/41
Gepid brought a grand cavalry horde arrayed across the entire front. He sent cav troops thru the swamps on both flanks in an attempt to get around the Bosporans, who brought a strong center of HC and HF. as the gepid right flank pushed past the meager defenders, the bosporans crashed forward with the center and his own right flank--winning an early face off on the gepid left. the Gepid HC in the center were nervous...hold, attack or fall back? some early anarchy brought both armies to the idea of an early engagment in the center (the ultimate demise of the gepids). As the Gepid right slowly rolled past the delaying forces, striving to get into a flanking attack on the main bosporan force in the center, the Bosporans pushed forward there, slowly grinding away at the gepids in a massive cavalry struggle. ultimately it was too far a distance for the gepid flankers, and the center collapsed before the Gepid HC could cut thru the delay forces sent to their heroic deaths. a good struggle, and could have gone either way...had the gepid center pulled back early...who knows???

Re: Special league Tournament
Klayeckles (bosporan late) 20/68 vs Jakdaw (alexandrian maccadonians) 53/51
the Great One's center looked invincible, with phalynx and Hypaphysists lined up shoulder to shoulder. both wings were rough terrain, and Alex had a greater number of MF for the rough stuff as well. But the Bosporans made a hasty alliance with the romans, and brought some vetran legionaires and armoured MF. And although Alex had the companions, the bosporans had a significant HC advantage. scholars are still trying to piece together how it all happened, but all agree it went very well for the bosporans. Some say the bosporans mobile reserve of HC allowed for some heavy blows at just the right location. some say the bosporans managed to draw the great ones' MF out of the rough terrain where they were swarmed by HC. still others believe the the Roman's reluctance to advance on the phalynx line forced the pike into bulging gap between rough terrain. There are some who suggest it was just the fickle finger of fate. We will never know exactly what really happened but certainly it was an epic chess match where both sides earned respect of the historians.
GG...!

Re: Special league Tournament
I noticed that neibanlucky has only been able to play Okie so far.
So here is how to contact him for challenges: neibanlucky@yahoo.fr
Other then that I don't know why he can't make challenges?
I had gotten about 2/3 of the way done with the standings when the page jumped and threw me out so I'll have to start all over again! BUT not till tommorrow.

Edmund_Blackadder's Bactrians 27/47 (57%) defeat okie's Romans 46/41 (100%)
One wing went to the Bactrians whilst on the other the Sarmatian allies had the best of the fighting. Meanwhile, in the centre, pikes beat legions on this occasion.
Thanks for the game and for organising the tournament Okie.
I'll put a challenge up for neibanlucky. password neiban.

Re: Special league Tournament
And some say The Great One (can I officially change my i.d. to this?) got impatient and recklessly abandoned his strong defensive position and got rightly punished for his arrogance by an excellent opponent. (I, of course, prefer the theory that Bosporan spies poisoned the Alexandrian drinking water causing a less than optimum performance from the vomiting troops.)klayeckles wrote:Klayeckles (bosporan late) 20/68 vs Jakdaw (alexandrian maccadonians) 53/51
