Black screen when starting and ending the game
The frequently problem with the black screen after the start of the program occurred for the first time after the installation of the new DLC "Blitzkrieg". When I finish the game I get as well a black screen. Windows can then no longer be used and freeze, so I must have to perform a hardware reset and starting windows again. I need help please, to be continue to play the game. An uninstall and reinstallation was not successful.
Thanks,
Markus
Thanks,
Markus

Does ALT+F4 or CTRL+ALT+DEL do anything during such a black screen? Is your anti-virus software set to allow the game to access the internet?

pressing the buttons has no effect. Sometimes work the "windows button", and I can close the game from the task list. My anti-virus-software makes no problems.
Re: Black screen when starting and ending the game
If you hold down CTRL when clicking "play the game" in the launcher it should open a popup allowing you to start the game in 1024x768 windowed mode. Does that allow you to get past the black screen?

Re: Black screen when starting and ending the game
I've tried this...The game can be started without a black screen. When leaving, however, I get a black screen again, and I must restart windows by reset.adherbal wrote:If you hold down CTRL when clicking "play the game" in the launcher it should open a popup allowing you to start the game in 1024x768 windowed mode. Re: Black screen when starting and ending the game
Try to disable all background programs in case these are interfering with the normal running of the game.
You can do this by running msconfig and disabling all non-windows start-up programs and services (except those related with Steam).
Then once you have disabled all non-Microsoft services (except Steam), please run the game and see if the issue persists.
If it does not, please then reopen msconfig and reenable those services, one by one, until you find the program causing the problem.
A tutorial on how to do this can be found below:

I tried the procedure, but I could not find the error. Do you have another idea? I suspect that, when leaving the game, there is some problem with the current resolution. Before I installed the DLC "Blitzkrieg", the game worked without problems.
Attaches a screenshot that shows the error when the game starts. In the upper screen you can see that the game is freeze, there are no other options possible than restarting the PC.

To clarify you can only start the game when you hold down the CTRL key and start the game in windowed mode?

I can not start the game either in windowed mode or regular, the error occurs permanently.VPaulus wrote:To clarify you can only start the game when you hold down the CTRL key and start the game in windowed mode?

Re: Black screen when starting and ending the game
It does not work at this time, the game crashes before I get into the selection menu (in which I can select the resolution and the window mode). I can hold down the CTRL Key und Start the Game. At next the Black Screen ist following, and I must Restart my PC.VPaulus wrote:But you've said:Feldwebel01 wrote:I can not start the game either in windowed mode or regular, the error occurs permanently.VPaulus wrote:To clarify you can only start the game when you hold down the CTRL key and start the game in windowed mode?

Re: Black screen when starting and ending the game
The output_log from your first post is from when you exited the game (and presumably encountered a black screen then).
Can you upload another log file from after you encounter a black screen when starting? Hopefully that will give us a clue about what's going wrong.
EDIT: Another idea, click the windows/Start button, enter "regedit" and launch regedit.exe. Then navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\The Artistocrats\Order of Battle - WWII".
In there should be a string called "Screenmanager Is Fullscreen mode_...". Double click this and make sure the value is set to 0.

Re: Black screen when starting and ending the game
Hello, attached I send you the current file. I have just checked that the settings at Fullscreen Mode are set to zero. Hopefully you'll find a solution to my problem. Thank you very much.adherbal wrote:The output_log from your first post is from when you exited the game (and presumably encountered a black screen then).

Re: Black screen when starting and ending the game
The hotkeys data file appears to be corrupted somehow. Go to <my documents>/My Games/Order of Battle - WW2/Settings and delete hotkeys.dat

Re: Black screen when starting and ending the game
Unfortunately this did not work...I delete the "hotkey.dat". After that I could start the game again.I changed the desired settings in the Options menu and could then play the game.adherbal wrote:The hotkeys data file appears to be corrupted somehow. When I leave the game, I get a black screen again, and I need to reset the PC! What now??
Re: Black screen when starting and ending the game
Check if Steam overlay is enable and disable it. Also disable the Video intro in the Options menu.

Do you have an utility named Sapphire Trixx installed?
If yes please uninstall it, reboot Windows and check if the issue persists.
