Some improvements

Post by Koenhom »

Hi,

I am a vetran Drive on Moscow player. I bought the new cross-platform version right away. I love the game, especially the online version. I have some improvements/questions for the new version (I only play multiplayer)
1. The game is really slow. It takes a long time for the opponents turn is executed. At least much longer than in the original version.
2. Is there a rating for online games? That would greatly improve competition.
3. The resign button is next to the play button, I already accidentaly resigned a game.
4. A better overview of the online games in progres,s is also appricated, something like the gamecenter version.
5. A 'friend' function might also be nice.

Hopefully this helps to improve the game even further!

Hello Koenhom!

I am glad you like our version so far. And now regarding your feedback:

1. I believe you are talking about the AI here? Honestly, we have not compared the time the AI needed to think a move in the original game with ours. From what I played, the original veteran AI also spent a lot of time thinking its moves. Sometimes around two or even three minutes on our iPad 2. Depending on how many units he had to process. We also believe that our AI is a little bit harder to play against, compared to the original one. I am afraid we can't do much about reducing his thinking time without sacrificing his performance as an worthy opponent, as we tried optimizing everything we could when we implemented it.

2. By rating you mean, a leaderboards system? That would certainly add the feeling of competition to the game. We will take this into consideration.

3. We thought about this issue ourselves, and we will add a popup asking if you are sure you wish to resign the game.

Regarding 4 and 5, they are good additions to the game and I will make sure we discuss them.

Thank you for your feedback! It is highly appreciated!

Regarding
1. I actually mean the online version. If the turn of my opponent is shown, it takes a long time, the units move slowly and there is some time between each unit moving. I actually play online games on both versions now, the gamespeed difference is quite big. Maybe a slider to increase the gamespeed is a solution.
2. Yeah, something like the ELO rating in the gamecenter version. I like that, when you win from a stronger opponent you gain a lot of points, when you win from weaker opponent only a few points are won.

Happy that I can provide some input!

Oh, so the multiplayer pacing. Currently it is set between actions is set at two seconds right now. All right. I will add that to our list.
