The rules (at least in theory) are clear guys. In case the game doesn't finish on time the most active player will be awarded victory. In case both players were equally active, the overall strategic performance will be assessed.

This is a tournament, the least you could do is stay informed and participate. I know that life gets in the way and I also acknowledge that due to the asynchronous nature of MP people may not have the same time frames (maybe in that case time extension should be given), but still the sign-up was clear: if you think you can’t complete your game in a week please don’t sign up. I know many people that wanted to participate and didn't get the chance because the slots were occupied! One or two turns a day is easily feasible and on a map with 13 turns one week shouldn't be a problem! Most likely it won't even take that long for the result to be determined...

Forgive my edgy tone but I wanted to get this off my chest! This is war afterall!

PS
It still bugs me that my computer got fried during the Battle of the Bugle tournament...

True..Before join the tournament,u need to assume that u got enough spare time,to make it.
One week for one round is more than need.

P.s. Still awaiting for my opponent Rogo,i guess we r stuck on 5th turn :( hope he will find a time to finish it on this weekend.

Remember my fine young German commander you must capture all objectives, while you have the advantage right now, I have a few suprises awaiting you.

The Germans have proven a crafty opponent as they have caught me off guard with
their strategy. Now in the 6th turn, after reorganizing my assult on the
Dnieper, I think the tide may be turning in my favor.
Attached is screen shot of trap I set for a Tiger (an Elephant escorted him in
but that's ok)... I threw everything I could possibly muster at that Tiger with
the intent of killing it but some how it survived. Damn those dice, that's one
tough Tiger! (note there is even more heavy artillery off screen that
participated in that Tiger hunt)

Fare well,
-Woken

Battle Report: ML_Berlin (Soviet) versus braccada (Axis)

Post by braccada »

Day1:
Intense Soviet attacks breach German defenses all along the Dnieper in the north and southeast. After the first day of fighting the Germans are forced to abandon their positions along the river and numerous German tanks and StuGs are left behind burning. It is unclear if the Soviet thrust towards Ryasne can be stopped at all.

Day2:
German heavy tanks rush to the west and meet the main Soviet army headon near the city of Kam'yne. Meanwhile an improvised Kampfgruppe is formed mainly from infantry units in the area of Mykolaivka. They are getting pounded by artillery and are facing several SU AT guns backed by infantry. Their situation is desperate, but the German commander refuses to pull tanks from the western front line. This Soviet army must be held in place at all costs and their incursion contained.

Meanwhile Germans are forced out of their position on the eastern bank of the Samara River. While fighting against attacks from both sides of the river the majority of German units is destroyed, but a heavy AT unit manages to break through the Soviet lines and crosses the Samara River Bridge. Meeting with recon elements and Gebirgsjäger in the area an undefended Kirovs'ke is taken by surprise and Soviet forces in the area including heavy KV-85 tanks are destroyed.

Later in the evening the situation stabilizes for the German side. The Samara River Bridge can not be retaken, but Soviet units blocked from crossing. Quick recon elements hit the Soviet forces in the North from the back and the overextended Soviet group collapses within hours and Germans strike across the Dnieper once more.

Day3:
Remaining Soviet forces in the North get cornered and mostly destroyed and fresh units arrive at the still raging battle of Kam'yane. At the same time the northern Dnieper River Bridge is retaken and quick forces stream across and move to encircle the main Soviet army at Kam'yane and dash towards undefended targets in the back. Upon seeing German Panzers in his back at the eastern bank of the Dnieper the Soviet commander surrenders.

Well fought and thanks for a great game!

Wondering what kind of jocker u got into your sleeve commander, but currently my brave army makes successfull advance on soviet positions, and your kamikaze tactic not working :D
Besides,i dont need to capture all objects, marginal victory will be enough for me :D

In the five years I've been playing this game I've always played the Germans. I overestimated the ability of my Russian forces and you're use of anti tank weapons has given me much to think about. Thanks for the lesson.

Turn8: As Captain Maripova smashes though German fortifications along the Dnieper, glorious Red Paratroopers took Ryasne airfield in an attempt to deny refueling and resupply of a depleted fw190 squadron. Even though the airfield was immediately retaken, it took about 4 German units away from Captain Maripova's front. Units that would have been critical in a counter attack. Tonight we drink in their honor!

Turn9: The northwestern front along both sides of the Dnieper had been quiet for days then at Dniprodzerzhynsk, in a flash of terror, panic and chaos ensued as panzer grenadiers and Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. H slashed into and virtually destroyed our artillery. Artillery that was supposedly safe behind our lines. Brückenpioniere were to blame! The whole front has been turned upside down by a few expertly utilized boats.

You seem to have an interesting battle! I wonder how both of you kept that many initial units alive. German medium armor, Fallschirmjäger, Soviet airforce.. or are those newly bought? In my game we had a pretty devastating first clash and almost none of those survived turn 3. At least on my part I did not have much of a choice with Soviets having the first turn and pushing hard, it was more like die running or die fighting. Well, some did not even have the chance of running :D

I have played this scenario once, for both sides,so i familiar with tactics there, scenario is pretty balanced,so everything is depend on skills & a bit of luck :)
Playing for Soviet side u need to capture 3 objects on north ASAP,trying to hold axis on another side of the river, and then advance carefully, soviets got weaker infantry, but very good arttillery.
Also paratroopers may landing unexpected, somewhere behind enemy lines

My Opponent David Ribes surrendered in Turn 12 after seeing no path to seize any further objectives And My units Going to push on his last objective. I probably wouldn't have taken it with only 2 turns remaining for the Decisive Victory, but would have tried.

So I won Round 2 as the Soviets.

This means I will face Braccada. I am doing a little shaking my only advantage will be my greater familiarity with multiplayer.

I cannot wait to see what he does with his youtube channel and my day by day reports.

This is just so much fun.

Thanks so much for putting this on Alberto and the rest of Slitherine.

Yes it was rather conservative at first as our red forces easily captured the northwestern victory points.
