Looking around on line I've seen Normans with painted helmets. Is this artistic licence or fact/something the "Italian" Normans did? My Norman army will be the hastings version.

I also paint some of my helmet crusaders knight (Legio Heroica) who charge their turcopoles (Mirliton) !
