That's by design since SGs cost no upkeep.majpalmer wrote:Another minor thing I noticed. When I disband Small Garrisons I do not get back any Manpower Points. I do for other units, but not for the SGs.

Re: POTZBLITZ: a mod for CTGW UPDATE V2.5
New PotzBlitz developments.
This has been a different game. First, the Swedes joined the war on the side of the Central Powers.
Then on Turn 43, the Greeks and the Swiss entered the war on the side of the Entente. I never expected to see the Swiss declare war.
What is odd is that these declarations came after several events that bode ill for the Entente. 1) The Central Powers had wiped out the Army of the Orient at Salonika. 2) Paris, Verdun, and Toul had fallen to the Germans. 3) Revolution had broken out in Russia.
We shall see how it all plays out. These declarations dropped my National Morale to ZERO. Looks like I'm about to lose again.

Wow. the Swiss declare war on the Germans... after they taken Paris!
It's hard to fathom what could be the historical rationale behind that!

Re: POTZBLITZ: a mod for CTGW UPDATE V2.5
I lost. Germans surrendered August 1917. The US hadn't even declared war yet.
I'd taken the line Rouen, Paris, Verdun, Toul, and Nancy.
Holding in the East. They had their first Revolution in March and the Kerensky offensive had failed.
And I still lost. NM had been a Zero for several turns.

Re: POTZBLITZ: a mod for CTGW UPDATE V2.5
I've seen a lot of similar results in my playthroughs, majpalmer. Taken four games all the way to turn 58 or 60 and no dice -- Russia and/or France simply will not surrender in 1917/1918 regardless of the events or how smashed they are. Hard to say without the ability to see the collapse points counter, but it feels as though the Kerensky offensive puts a stop to the Russian event chain (I have yet to see another Russian event trigger afterwards, even after crushing the counteroffensive and continuing the advance). France similarly seems to not feel the effects of mutiny, etc. Switzerland has entered the war in three of the four late-game playthroughs, which seems like too high of a chance.
I think your morale problem is most likely tied to not countering the blockade (Hunger Winter/Agricultural Shortage every year), or to taking too long to end the Cossacks event in 1914 via Tannenberg. Those are killers. Either of those can put you in a critical sub-40 spot from which you cannot realistically recover in the course of the game. Bigger problem, though, seems to be the late game to me. I've carried 60%+ German and AH morale into 1917, crushed Britain in Mesopotamia and Egypt, knocked out Romania/Greece/Salonika, pushed Italy back well behind the Isonzo, taken half of France in an overrun, and the Entente majors just will not give in. Seems like, in the current state of the mod, the only option for the CP to win is to get it done with a 1914 Paris push -- which, though probably realistic, makes for less of a good game. A few tweaks to the collapse point system or late-game events would probably make the possibility of a long-haul CP win attainable.

Re: POTZBLITZ: a mod for CTGW UPDATE V2.5
That makes sens. I don't push the Russians out of East Prussia early on, because I focus on captured Warsaw. I didn't realize that the Cossack event keeps applying turn to turn.
I'll give it another try and work on clearing East Prussia earlier.
I tried to edit the event, but my Modding skills aren't that good and the game won't load. I obviously did something wrong.

Re: POTZBLITZ: a mod for CTGW UPDATE V2.5
I'd like it f the Cossack effect was gone, or perhaps a one time event cancelled out when the Russians are driven out.
I under stand the rationale behind the event, but I'm not sure it should be bigger than capturing Warsaw.
Thanks.

step backwards... no aircraft, like no arts again, no dynamics in game, i wonder what are doing these guys in multiplayer, just sit and watch i guess
Re: POTZBLITZ: a mod for CTGW UPDATE V2.5
Ending the Cossacks effect is actually not that hard. All you need to do to is to destroy some Russian units.majpalmer wrote:I'd like it f the Cossack effect was gone, or perhaps a one time event cancelled out when the Russians are driven out.

Either:
- one infantry or
- two cavalry and one garrison or
. one cavalry and three garrisons or
- five garrisons
The actual kills must be made by German units, but you can of course weaken the Russian units before by using AH units.
Alternatively you can just capture Warsaw or retreat Prittwitz's unit behind the Vistula (but this will incur a morale penalty).
Alternatively you can lessen the effect of the Cossacks event by moving as many German units on Russian hexes as possible.
Alternatively you can just delete line#10438 in game.events.lua which should read
Code: Select all
counter = counter + (math.random(1,2))
That's done purely for the reason that the inane AI just loves to stuff northern Italy with Entente units. Opening a front here puts the CP player under pressure who at that time normally struggles to plug any gaps after his breakthrough and ensuing advance in France has finally succeeded. I know it's rather unrealistic but I'm unable to fix the broken AI. I will reduce the chance for a swiss DOW though.Zombo wrote:Wow. the Swiss declare war on the Germans... after they taken Paris!

Re: POTZBLITZ: a mod for CTGW UPDATE V2.5
It's gotten to the point, and I know this is the AI not your Mod, as soon as I take out Serbia I'll shift AH troops to the Italian front and declare war on Italy if it's not in the war yet. As soon as Italy comes in, the AI gets stupid in France. With your Mod it's not as stupid, but it's still stupid.

Found the line in Notepad, deleted it, but game will not run.
Re: POTZBLITZ: a mod for CTGW UPDATE V2.5
Then you must have done something wrong elsewhere. Just copy/paste the last bugfix over your version to get the game running again.majpalmer wrote:Found the line in Notepad, deleted it, but game will not run.
Finally had time for a playthrough myself, had a look at the complete logfile and cornered the morale-destroying bug for Germany. Will upload a new bugfix later.
Re: POTZBLITZ: a mod for CTGW UPDATE V2.5
western way works fine
france down in 13, all entente in 27 turns
germans morale never bellow 100%
maybe i will try eastern way during weekend, but i know its ineffective
