Shield matchup question

I prefer my starships having a bunch of shields (Helps them not randomly explode as much).

My question concerns different types of shields on the same vessel.
I've read the manual carefully, and even Google, but can not find an answer:

Different shields block missiles and torpedoes differently, and this is important to me.
A proton shield blocks 84% of rockets, so I like to have them, even though they have only 2100 shield points.
An ion shield has 4500 shield points (more than double), but it only 19% rocket defence rate. It uses the same power as a proton shield, and is slightly smaller.

My question is, what if I have both a proton shield and an ion shield on the same ship?
I can see the shield points as 6600 shield points, but what's the rocket defence rate? Is it 19%? Or 84%? Or (19+84)/2=51.5%? Or even some really weird calculation like 2100/(2100+4500)*(84/(19+84)) ?

I think it was discussed in the past to have an effective shields values in the ship's information.

I didn't mean it was discussed here, just that the idea was discussed (and not opposed by Vladimir).

It will be (2100*84+4500*19)/(2100+4500)

Thank you. This makes it possible to calculate now. It won't be fun since I often have 5 or 6 shield generators on my ship, but it'll be possible. Yay!
