Cant find my Historic Scenario in game

Post by GBISSET »

I made up a little scenario and was able to find it and reload it several times in the editor as I worked on it, however when it was ready I was unable to find it in the Historic section to play. I can see it in windows, in the Mygames directory.

I kind of wish that the historic game selection menu worked liked the scenario selection menu. Im not sure why they are different. I also wish the historic game menu had a search function that would allow me to load scenarios right from windows explorer.

Worst, Im pretty sure I knew how to do this 6 months ago. Did something change with the historic scenario selection?

Ive looked at the manuals and dont see saving games covered there.

Thanks

Assuming your scenario was "scenarioname", and campaign likewise, is it in
My Documents/My Games/PIKEANDSHOT/Campaigns/scenarioname/Scenarios/scenarioname.bam

?

do you have a CAMPAIGN.txt file in My Documents/My Games/PIKEANDSHOT/Campaigns/campaignname?

CAMPAIGN.txt should contain this line (assuming the scenario name is the same of the campaign name/ the campaign has only one scenario):
[15]

There should be, except that it isn't usually necessary in SP scenarios in /my games

So I am not really sure why your scenario wasn't showing.

Ive been playing other games and came back to PS, and have the same problem again. I have problems like this with many newer games .

My suggestion is that you make the process of naming and finding scenarios more intuitive and less graphical, or at least have an option for a more classical windows looking interface (as in the Tiller games). Then you can concentrate your efforts more on the game program, and it will be easier for the users to make and play scenarios.

The option of a standard Windows-type interface would be nice, but it would really require the engine to be completely rewritten.
