Actually, everyone will get multiple matches. The tournaments use a Swiss system to match you up for the next round and they use the points, not Win/Loss to calculate your ranking. So a narrow defeat could still lead to ultimate victory!
Indeed!

You can lose a battle but still win the war.

The winner of the tournament will be the player who will have scored more points at the end of 6 games (3 rounds).

Heh well heres my Match report:) After a shakey start alls going swell untill half way through day 19 im told by my buddy S***!it not scenario based!!it's VP's etc,so then i think ah ive blown it with one day to go its impossible!...so i try and remoanouver my units to go for vp instead but really it was too late, not too mention didnt notice it wasnt Race to the meuse either!:( Thats what i get for really not doing my homework, next two matches will be diffrent thats for sure.Ive not even played that longer day 29 Battle of the Bulge scenario either, hence thought it ended alot sooner.Fair play to my opponent. :| :| :|Eight hours of play too....

The delay is probably because people are playing all over the planet, in different time zones. I know I've routinely played other tournament players who live in Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Australia.

Mate the last time I have been in bed was from sunday 11 to monday 12 (slept for 8 hours aprox). This last night I have been working up to 16:00 aprox., then had lunch and the played my turn. Don't you think 39 hours without sleep is too much? I could have some sleep this afternoon if I knew this would happen.

Sounds frustrating. Of course, as Sun Tzu said: “The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.” Seems as though your opponent has already started doing that to you. Good luck with everything.

Well he's in Europe too, like me. He messaged to me and told he's going to bed now.

Brucep most annoying ever to play with i literaly think hes trying to make me quit out of sheer boredom as it takes him 30 mins plus everymove literally the battle has taken more than 8 hours due to the wait time inbetween moves and sorry to say i cant deal with that sort of mockery and incompetence as while im a strategic gamer it certainly doesnt take me a darn hour to make one move decision so i bid you adieu hoping i never have to play against a opponent like that again

Half way through todays game!,Heh oh deary me,i knew just those two hours sleep yesterday would come back to haunt me!Roll on game 2...

Please, keep it civil folks.

Not everyone plays the same way, some people play their turn when they have free time, and it's a PBEM game so you can't expect your opponent to submit his turn immediately.

There are time limits: if he goes past the time limit, you'll win by forfeit.

It might actually be some peoples tactics, because it could work for some,i can see that..everyone to their own!I suppose as long as you Win it doesnt really matter one way or another how you do it.

punctuation not understand how it works.
I do not understand how my opponent is 5 and me 12 . when I do not see significant difference in our games

http://www.slitherine.com/tournaments/s ... selround=1

Can someone explain it to me?

Gerifonte:

Good question. I do not understand either. On the game where I was the Allies, my first-round opponent got 15 points. On the game where I was the Germans, I got 83 points. To me, that might reasonably give me 68 points. (And I suppose give my opponent -68).

It is very unclear how this tournament is being scored. Anyone - is there some sort of scoring table or rule book available?

Thanks!

There are 30 points available in a game, and they are split between the two players depending on victory conditions (as follows):

- 30 Points to the winner if Automatic victory is obtained (by reaching the Meuse before the end of the 19th).
- 95%-5% for a victory on Day 20
- 90%-10% for Day 21

and so on, down to

- 55%-45% for Day 28

hi,
the rules are the rules and you have to accept them. But as you on the other post in a previous post how can it be normal for a participant to lose every game to win the tournament?

that's not normal. victory is victory!!!

If you lose every game it's mathematically impossible to win the tournament.
