Bad case of no Clibs.

Can anyone lead me to a photo of Sassanid Persian "early clibanarii" by Old Glory 15's.
Painted or unpainted! I hate ordering when I can't see them.

Does anyone know of any other Sassanid Persian clibanarii models in 15mm?
I'm looking for really nice ones with lots of variety and detail, from an early period -- Shapur II or earlier.

The only even vaguely accurate early figures are from the old Battle Honours range now made under licence by Eureka. If in the UK then LKM (I think, will check) can get them.

The archer figures are accurate except for the globe hats. The best are a charging asawaran with helmet and the command packs. They do a great elephant set. The light horse are globe hatted as well.

For accurate figures we are lobbying the fellow (he never gives his name) from Khurasan Miniatures.

The OG early clib don't have the globe hat, have a cased bow and a place for a lance to be inserted (provided) and a plumed helmet.

I've got pic's somewhere but try here for scans of OG lead...

Sorry from a quick search the only sassanid are their LH. You're looking for their ES ranges.

Apologies for the delay in reply.

I do not know of any photos of them. However if you have access to Ian Hetah's "Armies of the Dark Ages" 2nd Ed (WRG 1980) then illustration 93 gives some idea. They have the globe hat and are two variant packs loading or shooting arrows (so no lance/shield) and have baggy trousers (which may actually be silken overalls covering armour of course). Within the packs are a further varian of a clean shaven or bearded warrior. The horses have full felt barding and are standing or cantering. The flat surface is perfect for letting rip with colourful designs. They actually look good with standing horses flanking a "charging" hero on each base.

The lancer-type is accurate for the early period and has helmet and accurate armour. He is a one-piece casting. The lance could do with drilling out and replacing if you have the time/inclination.

Until Khurasan Minis bring out their range this is about the most accurate for the early period. Khurasan's casting seems to be variable in quality if the scans on the website are anything to go by, the Dailami look dreadful! The cavalry types seem much cleaner (their junior ghulams are superb).

The Battle Honours light cavalry is perfect for Chionites if you cut down the globe hat to a cap. For Sasanian LH I would go with Essex or similar Sogdians.
