Thanks for Britcon!
Just wanted to record my thanks to JD, Nik, Hammy and the rest of the BHGS team for organising another excellent Britcon event.
Thanks to the guys I played, Stephen Clarke, Olivier Dader, Ray Duggins, Hunter Hope, Stephane Brault and John Monroe for 6 very enjoyable games played in a great spirit.
Special thanks to Olivier for thrashing me with his Ayyubids but then giving some tips which enabled me to cope with the Huns, Mongols and Sassanida who followed.
See you again next year!
Pete

I wish to give a special thanks to JD, Nick and Hammy for their kindness and their patience with some frenchies!
Thanks to the guy I played for very various and enjoyable game, especially Pete for a great whirling game and a justification for the origin of the words "Fair play" and "Gentleman"
I hope to see you in some french tournament soon!

I'd like to add my thanks for organising another great event.
Pete,
Even when you are giving me a thrashing

Peter the Persian Helmet winner sounds awful.

But other than that congratulations to the winners and everybody who made it such a great event.

he must have cheated very well then !!jdm wrote:Pete Dalby was also awarded the Persian Helmet. This is voted for by the players themselves and is awarded to the best sportsman at the event.
Pete was also placed very highly, more on that later, and this is quite unusual for this award

I'd recommend Cannes on the south coast in February as well. Part of a very big games exhibition held inpetedalby wrote:Only if you can guys can interpret for me - my French is appalling!I hope to see you in some french tournament soon!
I know Gilles extended an invitation to a Paris competition last year - I'd certainly like to if dates etc permit.
the festival hall.
