Excel help for Army List Calculator please

Post by AlanYork »

I wonder if one of you could be so kind as to steer me in the right direction here. I have the Army List Calculator on our PC and have an army organised thus with Order of march on the left:

10 Companions
9 Agema
7 Argyraspids
6 Argyraspids
5 Phalanx
4 Thureophoroi
1 Slingers
2 Horse archers
3 Tarantine cavalry
8 Galatian cavalry

If I then try and sort it by order of march all I get is the numbers changing their order but not the troop type, like so:

1 Companions
2 Agema
3 Argyraspids
4 Argyraspids
5 Phalanx
6 Thureophoroi
7 Slingers
8 Horse archers
9 Tarantine cavalry
10 Galatian cavalry

So Companions which should be going down last as BG number 10 are now number 1, slingers should be put down as the first BG but are now number 7!

I'm using the Data > Sort facility on the Excel menu bar. Obviously this isn't right but I'm at a loss as to know what is. Right clicking on the field doesn't seem to bring up anything relevant. Could somebody talk me through what I should be doing here please?

It is also telling me that an average pike phalanx with 12 bases has an autobreak point of 5, I've re entered this on several spreadsheets to check that it isn't me mistyping the troop details and it still says 5 every time, surely it's 6 isn't it?

Thanks for any assistance.

you need to highlight the entire field in order to sort all the columns.
to do this left click on the top left box, in this case the one with 10 in it
hold the mouse button down and move it to the bottom right box with the number of bases for the last group - in this case that would be the number of bases for the galatians.
then go to data\sort by ascending
do not highlight the point columns

That works great, thank you.

I understand what's going on with the Autobreak thing now as well. Twelve Average pike break on losses of greater than 40%, so that's greater than 4.8 bases ie 5 bases.
