Don't worry, I'm bringing my lucky dice.

At least that's what my opponents always call them.

If you look a coupe of posts up you will see that I will, but I was waiting for the last list.

Be up in the next 1/2 hour, along with the draw so you can all plot your opponents down fall :D :D :D :D :D

Runners and riders

1 - Richard and Don - Maratha 1661
2 - Isabel and Stephen Stead - Burmese 1494
3 - Rob Medcraft and Ray Boyles - Mughal 1565
4 - Will Denham and Pete Simpson - Mapuche 1601
5 - Bruce Rollett and Neil Moulden - Safavid Persian 1660
6 - Kevin Johnson and Lynette Maxim - Mughal 1562
7 - Brendan Morrissey and Nigel Emsen - Tibetan 1649
8 - Alasdair - Rajput 1600

First round draw is as follows.
1 v 4
2 v 5
3 v 8
6 v 7
All complaints to my wife.

There are some time restrictions on the rooms at Devizes, we need to be finished and out of the room by 5.00 pm on the Saturday and 4.30 pm on the Sunday.

I therefore suggest we play 3 hour games, which will leave us a lunch hour to do some shopping and get something to eat.

1st game Saturday 9.30 to 12.30 (please note you need to register at the main entrance)
2nd game Saturday 1.30 to 4.30

3rd game Sunday 9.00 to 12.00
4th game Sunday 1.00 to 4.00

See you all there.

Nigel,

Ray and mine or yours!!!!

It all depends on how Kevin and Lynette have organised their list.

Ray and I are going to be submarining over the weekend. Meet you in round 2

The Burmese should be interesting - 12 elephants.

Submarining!
Luxary, when I were a lad I dreamed of submarining!
We used to get up at 4'am to start our games, our dice were loaded w't'ones, and not only would we be thrashed by t'opponents, we would be thrashed by our dad when we got home.
And we were grateful!

Mine of course... Or though Devizes is where I traditionally actually get to defeat Ray ;)

Very much different, without giving too much away.

Well Ray will find out tonight how different the two Mughal list are as he has a practice game against Lynette.

Kevin and Lynette will be fighting for second or third place.

So what are the bets on for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

All the armies have their strengths and weakness including Alasdair's. Having only 3 hour games may mean more draws.

Nigel, I would bet on Ray's dice rather than yours.

my version if Mughal, which didn't take in the end was the Armoured Horse Archers and Lancers supported by Nellies and zero artillery....

I wouldn't under estimate Wills and Petes army ;)

I think having 3 hour games means you have to trust your partner more to play their own part of the game and not discuss/debate each move.

I totally trust Ray. My concern is whether he can trust me and my dice.

Will, I thought you would go heavy on the heavy weapon to support mixed pike and bow BG's. Then use your "horse" to cover the flanks.

Well Alasdair does not have to take lots of artillery as he has not got Paddy as his partner!! He will have lots of superior lance armed cavalry.

There's plenty of pike, pike/bow and heavy weapons to go round! Heavy weapons are warriors, not so hot against lancers. Think we only took five bg of them. Enough to annoy other foot forces!
There are horse too (We hear the Spaniards want them back)!
Ohhh, upgraded to a IIIL sweet!

Just to let everyone know Richard will now only be joining me for one day. I am not sure which day yet, but if I know before the weekend I will let everyone know.

Nothing to panic about, just children problems.

As I haven't played since November last year, I will try and play as quickly as possible.
