Afrika Korps Campaign; Victory/Loss in Crusader

I have played four Crusader games now. The first worked well and I did not encounter any quirks. Then I had two games in which, I accomplished the victory conditions etc. but Lost...I just finished a fourth game and got a Victory , although I seemed to meet conditions for Triumph. What is happening?

It seems any victory demands that Tobruk be occupied by a UK unit at the end of the game, perhaps it is necessary for it to be infantry , armor, recon or anti-tank: otherwise, the result is a Loss. Loss of the "A'' squares for the Service Trucks, even if they are retaken, seems to be unredeemable. Now this should be clarified ,if it is indeed the case, in the intro to the battle as it has quite an influence on strategy: the UK must provide adequate flank cover for the push on the para airfield and the Service Truck convoy and protect the "A" hexes.

Or did I miss something obvious?

Are you actually talking about Allied Corps campaign? I have not had any problem with this battle. I pull in all of the nearby units plus one or two inf of my core to properly defend the area. With some air support your paratroopers should be able to take the airfield on the far left of the map. I split the rest of my forces between attacking the Italian stronghold in the southwest of the map and the Germany concentration near Tobruk. Only once I have smashed most of this do I even try to move the service trucks out of Tobruk. Move them first due south, and then east to avoid the large number of German units that will be moving NW from the "A" area.

Agreed. I think that this is the critical bit.

Outside of Tobruk, there are some nasty traps if you try to do too much at once and it pays to scout well before committing your forces (this is generally good advice, but especially here where your number of units is quite small for the many jobs you want to do). One at a time is better than all at once.
