Re: Cotentin
So there is nobody out there that has won the Cotentin scenario?
Re: Cotentin
I only played this one once and was satisfied to get a victory but not the triumph. The bocage makes rapid advances impossible.
If you have good Ranger units or move heroes, keep them backed up with artillery and keep to the right flank. Leapfrog them from position to position and hope you get there in time. The small number of turns is the killer in this one.
I believe there is a serious amount of Heavy German armor ready to punish any hasty movements, and a nice-size ambush in the South I luckily forestalled by sending a couple of fast units through the woods to capture the town hex there.
Swing enough fast units around the northern flank and you may be able to get the Triumph.
In my case the jagdpanthers and Tiger IIs were too much for my guys, as my airpower was shy about bombing around the German 88's and other Flak.
Good Luck

Ambushes, Heavy armour and AA need to be identified so they can be dealt with quickly. It helps if you have a Sdkfz with spotting and move hero for fast long range scouting - speed is important in this terrain to get in and escape quickly. The need for speed means that experienced and preferably overstrength Hellcats are useful, even though the M3A4 76 Shermans are more versatile.
In essence, rangers backed by a calliope do the work in the bocage, though I generally tried to keep an M7 behind the calliope to get in an extra shot before attacking. The Sherman and Hellcat are close behind to work in the open sections with the 155 SPart which is better against armour. In close terrain an experienced ranger unit will usually wreck almost any tank or Stug, so the hellcats and sherman can sit behind the artillery. The air force hangs around just out of spotting distance ready to take out whatever the scouts find.
I had a lot of artillery, so locate 88s units, suppress them with artillery, bomb them, then finish with ground troops. This uses up the last shot of the ones the strategic bombers have hit even if they aren't destroyed. Mobile AA is hard target so use the Shermans or Hellcats if it's in the open. Once you have damaged or destroyed the AA the bombers then damage the enemy armour. Keep following the formula and you should just make it wit a turn or two to spare.
