Even if many times i skip it, i find it very usefull when i play with great players like Mike. It is really the only way to learn good the game. I am sure you dont have the same issue because you are an old-time player . For a player at your level, i can assume, it is only useful to beter understand the enemy's plan or to foresee a trap.

I generally do watch my opponents turn. Ideas and opportunities occur to me while watching, although it can be frustrating when you see something and want to act on it, but have to wait a long time for the turn to finish.

Exceptions would be when I'm in a hurry, or if I'm fighting a largish battle against an opponent with a lot of LF or LH, where the endless move, shoot, move shoot, move, shot is too much to bear.

I don't think I'm that good at times as I still play some dreadful matches! I think it is very helpful to watch your opponents' turn so that you can pick up the real flow of the battle. It also makes you realise how damaging enemy missile fire can be at times. I am looking at ways to improve my game and watching my opponents turn carefully will make some difference. I tend to play too quickly and impulsively and I need to slow down and take more time over my turns.
