Hi

Can someone tell me why the Persian Heavy Cavalry are classed as bowmen, and why the Immortals are classed as medium foot, as most of the information I have say's that they had armour.

The cavalry are classed as bow men as that appears to have been the way they thought - basically following the Skythian style of cavalry warfare; they are depicted as very similar to Skythians.

The Immortals are armoured - MF does not mean they are not that capability is not linked to armour, MF can, in theory, be Unprotected, Protected, Armoured or Heavily Armoured.

If you read Herodotus, when he describes the persian invader army, he says that medes and persians had cuirasses, bows, and a long knife. Then, he says that both medes and persians had cavalry, equipped in the same way.
Immortals, as nik stated, are armoured, but their formation, that is the same than sparabara, lacks of the cohesion and resistance, at least Herodotus´ battle descriptions.
