Lookig at the Hellenistic Greek list, does the All MF or all HF options with Thureophoroi apply to the entire army, or if you choose an ally-general can his Thureophoroi differ from the C-in-C's ?

The option represents two different interpretations of the evidence, not local variations in tactics. You have to pick one interpretation or the other.

How does the design team come down on the interpretations? Thureophoroi appear in a fairly wide range of lists & geography--would those in the Indo-Greek list differ historically from those in an early Successor list?

I have obviously asked the wrong question. I hadn't intended to re-open a debate that has apparently gone on elsewhere.

Richard says we are to pick one interpretation or the other, and this is also noted in the lists, but a description of the historical rationale for the choices--in simple terms--is not given. That would be very helpful. If I've missed it elsewhere on this board, please direct me and accept my apologies. My searches have turned up lots of tantalizing references, but not a clear statement of what the two choices represent.

I do understand there is some history to the discussion about this choice. I have read on the DBMM board and other discussion groups, but haven't found this laid out. I've read Luke Ueda-Sarson's article a number of times, and while it is specific about some aspects of the Iphikratean reforms, the section on Thureophoroi is not helpful is this regard. I also understand that there are both historical interpretations and game-play preferences involved in choosing, but it's the two schools of thought on the historical interpretations that I'm hoping to see briefly summarized.
