Panzer Divisions MOD
Hello,
Inspired by my Nato Mod, here is a try of a new one called "Panzer Divisions".
On the image, you can see a Tiger Battalion (II = -50% cost and max strength), a Tiger Regiment (III = -30% cost and max strength), a Tiger Brigade (X = original unit) and a Tiger Division (XX = +30% cost and max strength)
What do you think of this idea ?

Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
Its interesting but i think that it works better with the nato counters, because if you have a small size unit like a battalion you should have a better icon that represents that. Something like a tank with infantry or just the tank. And for the bigger size units there should be too a more complex icon. Like more tanks and ifantry combined.
At the end you have a lot of work to do and the maps arent designed for such mixed types of units. At least not a division near a battalion. More like you play with a full division divided in battalions across the map. Think about the enemy. They are mostly distributed across the map to be a challenge to the core limit number instead of to represent those unit types.
Cool and good work ( more options for core building, with those cheaps units, i think that division 13 size is still cheaper than overstrength ??? ) but i dont think that is a mod that can work alone so too much work here.

Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
I like it. Back in the day someone came up with division symbols that could be work into the icon data as well. That would be F#$%ing awesome! If I found the thread would you be interested in incorporating those too?
Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
You could make a whole new dimension to the game. Think about it. Imagine custom made division campaigns like some people did for Panzer General. Here is the link I was talking about. viewtopic.php?f=147&t=43652

Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
To answer in "cedonxp",
I tried to add division symbols but I think there is not enough place to add distinguishable symbols (I did not succeed can be that somebody else can arrive there).
There is a simpler solution of which I already have to think, it is to personalize the images "bigunits".
Here is an example (this image will be incorporated in the next release of my Nato mod) :

Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
Well I really like the concept, I am a rookie to any modeling but if you release a division specific mod I want to try to create several campaigns that takes you through some division like the Viking or desert rats. The possibilities could breath a new life for PC, I wonder if the developers would or could be convinced to create division specific DLCs? I think you could change the scale for the game easily enough. Anyway, I will keep an eye out for your work here. I do like it.

Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
I'm totally into the same idea. I'm playing huuuuge custom made maps (4-6 times as big as vanilla-versions) and want a piece of history applied to the units. Hence that I fiddled wit the graphics a bit, and made both division-specific units and units based around heroes. This is long and hard work. Took me more than half a year, but now I'm getting close to 2000 units, and the gameplay is so much more challenging but more interesting at the same time.
As you can see in the pic, there are normal wehr-units, heroes, Grossdeutschland, Lehr, LSSAH, Das Reich, Totenkopf units and even a RONA unit....

Hmm, that´s for my taste to colorful and to much information....JohnPlayer wrote: As you can see in the pic, there are normal wehr-units, heroes, Grossdeutschland, Lehr, LSSAH, Das Reich, Totenkopf units and even a RONA unit....

Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
John, DUDE! I want this MOD. Can I apply what you already have? I am currently moving from the UK to the US but when I get settled I would love to try to make a 1st SS campaign, or at least try anyway. Would you consider letting me use some of your work with the agreement I wouldn't release it to anyone else without your permission? This looks freaking awesome!

Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
to John,
Can you show an image with the icons "canmove", "canattack", "lowfuel" and "lowammo" ? I do not see them on the image.
Thanks

Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
cedonxp - sure you can. I'm not protective about my work. And it is mostly other peoples work, that I added and edited a bit. Do you wan't just units? And specific divisions or a collected pack...?
terminator - I will make one and post it later

Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
terminator - here you go. I moved the placement of the fuel indicator, to fit right on the right hand side of my box. The ammo-indicator (not shown on this one, as I wanted to do it in a hurry) is placed right to the left hand side of my box. I don't think it's perfect, and I might move it further actually. Dunno - loads of untaken last decisions still I guess...
But being new here, I just want to express how thrilled I am about the openness of Panzer Corps. You can basocally edit everything, without being a skillfull coder.

Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
magic1111 - I kinda agree with you actually. In the sense that when I put them up, I thought to myself - "that looks more messy than usually".
The maps I put them in, makes it look more appetizing (in my view) when you have clusters of artillery-units together, some panzer units in another cluster, and a bunch of GD's together. As here in a bit of The Maginot Line. When I look at it like that, it appeals to me

Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
mod which I need to let my game similar to the images?
Re: Panzer Divisions MOD
JohnPlayer, will take what every you have and then pick the division to focus on and see what I can do. Might ask Nico if I can use some of his maps. But will likely begin the research phase now. while I am moving. Appreciate the willingness to share.
