Thanks my first play have say really like game

Sengoku Jidai: Shadow of the Shogun is a turn-based tactical and strategic game set during this turbulent time; primarily focusing on the Japanese Warring States period and Japanese Invasion of Korea. Other armies from East Asia are also made available to simulate different conflicts across the region.

I have both steam copy and none steam copy.

I played the tutorial and my first campaign so don't count hours on steam.

I love the design it looks very asian old style paintings. I found tutorial helpful as didn't have clue whats best use for what. I found it easy learn, my first campaign I played as Imagawa clan my main opponent was Akai clan, first battle was chosen by Akai clan, lucky for me was with nice big hill so guarded my hill and pulled off victory, my kill ratio to deaths was 2 to 1 so need learn more. Second battle I went straight for with half my army, Akai agreed open battle this one I choose river position to defend, this with fact I already smashed troops before gave me an advantage, I won battle and Akai clan sued for peace.

Lots to learn and lots of enjoyment, there large range of content so will take while to master. I was lucky for my first campaign. Units can be pain chasing of routers but I guess in real battle back in history that was true to, I had one chase unit and end up routed itself. I like that feature its more realistic, I don't want simple puzzle do X and Y and you will win. There randomness to life things just happen, good general should be able counter any problems.

I would recommend it highly, if your looking for total war not going find it, this is more about battles then building things. I like that its mainly about the battles, its something I can just enjoy for battles, Total wars something I can build an empire with and do battles. I like that its turn based, that to gives it a place of its own. For some grapics might not look great if comparing lot modern games, but for me I love way its done.

For me I like samurai period so its great. I hope maybe they do napoleonic era, medieval or muskateer era version to. There periods I personally am drawn to.

I am very happy I got the game and look forward see how they develop it and what other periods time they do for maybe other games.

I give the game 9/10

Their my review I will post on Steam just got install steam copy play for 5 mins haha

I really love the art and design. Heck thats the reason I bought it.
But Id really love a Roman era game. Just think of all the enemies of Rome you could sell as DLC!

Nice comment about DLC's haha, think we will keep rbodleyscott busy for while.

That 5 mins became slog, choose quick skirmish and my cav got stuck between 2 mountains pinned by unit, my whole right flank crumbles because of it. I took the head their commander on the left flank, routed their whole left flank, then had to watch 2 units disappeared off the map chasing unit.

I finally got win on last turn casualties were way bad, but I managed to turn a nightmare around.

Thats what happens when you only plan quick 5 mins.

I know some would complain but don't change it, fact things went wrong I still won made me feel good, having everything happen as you plan just not same fun. If you do add in green grass for those that want it, please don't make it for all, I love way it looks.

Design is great and the game is superb. Even better than original Pike and shot.
Ancient or medieval eras game using the same engine and rules would be fantastic.
Make love, not war.

Yes I've been waiting for months anticipating the release and picked it up the first hour or two it finally released on the 19th since I really loved Pike and Shot, which I also picked up pre-campaign (before the release of campaigns-- which I also have).
As for the above post, there is a Ancient/Medieval variant which is Field of Glory. Sure its a hex-grid, but they are similar enough to recognize some similarities. The Age of Machiavelli army lists are also in a way very late Medieval style...

Hi Huskie

Thanks I take a look at that game. I have to admit that was samurai era that started it appealing to me, once I got started playing I found I really enjoyed. I am even thinking giving Pike and shot a try.
