Hello, guys, I'm copying my post from the Steam forums.
Dear developers and colleague gamers!
I definitely agree with and like the random system - there are thousands of examples in history where a force inferior in training, number, supplies, materiel, etc. held out against a much stronger opponent. I really like it when a Norwegian infantry regiment holds a strategically important town despite my brutal artillery, air and pionier attacks. I make a story in my head how these brave soldiers are defending with such tenacity.
However, it is extremely frustrating when a Matilda mark 1, armed exclusively with machine guns, runs up to my veteran PZIV in clear terrain and causes 5 casualties with none taken. Yes, there were examples of bravery, improvisation, disabling tanks with Molotovs, tree logs, etc. etc. but OPEN GROUND AND MACHINE GUNS!! There is no physical way a couple of Panzer I's or Matilda I's could cause 50% casualties to a full Crusader/Pz IV unit, not even by ramming them!
I know about the ''Chess'' rules, but I don't want to lose the great tales of defiance... I was hoping that you could implement some sort of middle ground - for example, infantry could still cause great damage to tanks, as our abstract Panzer Corps infantry company/battalion/regiment/division would surely have some AT rifles, Molotovs, AT grenades, tree logs, satchel charges, later Panzerfausts, recoilless rifles and bazookas... But the abstract Matilda 1 unit would have only machine guns, and while it might shoot at the vision slits or kill a tank commander protruding from the turret etc., the effect of such attacks should be limited to suppression or maximally 1-2 casualties... not 5. Would it be possible?
Perhaps it would be possible to limit the combat random of MG-armed tanks against vehicles that have armor larger than X? So, a PZ I/Matilda I could still massacre an Opel Blitz column or a couple of 222's etc., but anything with 10 mm or more armor would remain impenetrable and susceptible to only suppression/1-2 casualties (''shooting at vision slits'', ''killing a commander outside the turret'', etc.)?
Combat random is JUST A LITTLE BIT TOO RANDOM!

Dice chess.
Combat results can differ +/-2 from predicted, so a 2/2 (even casualties) can become 4/0 (one of your extreme displays of heroism), but never 6/1 (which is borderline madness).
Personally I quite enjoy the thought that my 7/1 can become 11/0 though! (or 13/0 as I had happen once)

What campaign are you playing? Apart from random dice there are also experience stars that affect combat.CroCop96 wrote:Matilda mark 1, armed exclusively with machine guns, runs up to my veteran PZIV in clear terrain and causes 5 casualties with none taken
As for randomness - I like It, the game is more interesting that way.
Make love, not war.

Grand campaign '40. The Matilda had less than 100 exp, the PZ IV around 200.Panzerpimp wrote:What campaign are you playing? Me, too, just a couple of these illogical things mar it

In Afrika Korps campaign I get used to see regular british infantry charging my SE Panzers in clear terrain and routing them.CroCop96 wrote:Matilda had less than 100 exp, the PZ IV around 200

Dice chess is the way to go; it eliminates the completely ridiculous but leaves room for the unexpected.
