Assyrian slingers

Hi,

I have quite a few assyrian slingers and no other biblical slingers to speak of. They are the armoured sort previously used as rear support for other heavy foot so arent really appropriate for tribal slingers. I am considering basing them as light foot so I can at least use the figures so they dont go to waste.

Would you recommend I do this or is there likely to be some use for armoured slingers in as either medium or heavy foot in later supplements. I recall that there was a comment that assyrian slingers were only used for siege. Shoudl I selve these guys in case of soem sort of siege supplement?
