Also, when trying to run the game without forcing opengl, it loops trying to start, and then eventually to fails start.
When I force openGL, the fleets are perfectly visible when they are moving around, but when they are stationed at a system, they become invisible, yet clickable.
Same goes for everything else (including pirates, annoyingly enough...), which have made it necessary for me check with my mouse to see if there are any anomalies in systems I explore.
And killed a few scouts where I couldn't see the pirates before running into them
Interestingly enough, the dotted boxes around those 'collector ships' (prions or whatnot?) are visible.
Forcing OpenGL makes fleets invisible when 'parked'.
Re: Forcing OpenGL makes fleets invisible when 'parked'.
lets take a look and see what may or may not be the problem,
How to get a DxDiag report file:
1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8 )
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments (zip) rather than pasted into the body of the post.

Thank you for quick reply, dxdiag zipped and attached
Purchased and installed through steam, if that makes any difference.

strange as steam normal tell you to update your drivers as well,
Driver Date/Size: 9/11/2013 Driver Version: 13.200.0.0
audio, Date and Size: 10/24/2012
and with a clean report, ie nothing in it, i have nothing to go on other than say update your drivers

add the exe of the game to your Anti Virus and firewall program, to make sure check the logs of these to see if it was one if any of them was to blame.
That usually means a 3rd party program, like an Internet security programs, is or could be interfering with the game or update installation.
run the game from a admin account and use full admin permissions.
please make sure all game pre requisite are installed with the game, even if you think or fully know there are already installed, it will only over write, and it may be that you have a older or newer version of these where as the game in question may need a certain version.
please make sure you are running the latest game version and have up to date drivers installed on your pc,
If you have the original version. So you'll need to update it from the Internet.
Please note that you'll only need the last update, as the updates are comprehensive. (not needed with steam)
Re: Forcing OpenGL makes fleets invisible when 'parked'.
Thank you, new drivers did the trick, for both issues.
Seems 'latest' from HP isn't good enough
That said, now I can't seem to alt-tab out of the game, which I could earlier.
I have to use the windows button on my keyboard to be able to do stuff (like answering here).
Not that important to me, I can get around it. But I'd thought I'd let you know, in case you wanna polish that away later.

to alt tab in and out, you need to have run the game as admin, then it works fine
