Do you have to purchase your games on Steam to get a Steam Key?

I had forgotten I bought one of your games a number of years ago, and I got an anniversary coupon. I've been looking at another one of your games (Polaris Sector) and realized there might be a happy convergence. However, I only purchase games on Steam.

I don't see that the coupon works on Steam. So if I purchase it here, can I get a Steam Key for it? Or is that only if purchased through Steam?

buy from here you also get a steam key and a stand alone product, buy from steam you get a steam key but not a stand alone product
