Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
I have upgraded to the 2.3.8 patch. I am in the middle of the Morning Sun campaign specifically scenario 6 Nanchang. I decided to restart the scenario from the beginning since this scenario had an issue from the original release with the cargo trucks (i.e. you get 100 resource points if all 3 cargo trucks get through however the third truck never leaves the map and you never get the resources). I played my side of turn 1 and the AI started, made an immediate counter attack from the bunker my troops are adjacent. The AI then started thinking and has not stopped yet. It has been over 30 minutes and it has not completed turn 1. I am running a basically new laptop with the follow specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz
8GB Samsung 1600MHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M, resolution 1920 x 1080, graphics memory 4,173 MB

steam or site version?
How to get a DxDiag report file:
1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8 )
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments (zip) rather than pasted into the body of the post.
add the exe of the game to your Anti Virus and firewall program, to make sure check the logs of these to see if it was one if any of them was to blame.
That usually means a 3rd party program, like an Internet security programs, is or could be interfering with the game or update installation.
run the game from a admin account and use full admin permissions.
please make sure all game pre requisite are installed with the game, even if you think or fully know there are already installed, it will only over write, and it may be that you have a older or newer version of these where as the game in question may need a certain version.
please make sure you are running the latest game version and have up to date drivers installed on your pc,
If you have the original version. So you'll need to update it from the Internet.
Please note that you'll only need the last update, as the updates are comprehensive. (not needed with steam)

Re: Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
I do have the latest patch 2.3.8 downloaded through Steam and I just installed the Marines expansion this morning. The programs are defined in my AV (Mcafee Total Protection) firewall and scanner nothing looks suspicious in the logs. Not sure how AV would be involved since this is a campaign not a PBEM so I would not think there would be any related Internet traffic. My drivers are all up to date. It appears it is pegging my CPU since when I have it running, and the AI is thinking, the cooling fan is running high. What is strange is I can start a saved version of this scenario of the campaign which I'm about 20 turns into it and I don't have any problems though the AI does seem a little slow at times. I just wanted to see if the issue with the cargo trucks was resolved. I have attached my DXDiag results. It didn't indicate any problems. The laptop is a new HP Envy 15t running Windows 10 home. I suppose I could start a new campaign fresh with the upgrades to see if it is a conflict due to a campaign I was already running.

User DPI Setting: Using System DPI
System DPI Setting: 120 DPI (125 percent)
default is 100%
Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 Dedicated Memory: 4037 MB Hybrid Graphics GPU: Integrated
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M Dedicated Memory: 4037 MB ( that's 8GB for VGA, on a 8gb laptop) no wonder it's running slow, unless one 520 etc is disabled and not used
all logged errors are Microsoft.Messaging not game related
my opinion is,
make doubly sure,

Check if Nvidia is set as the preferred graphic card:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/ ... Works.html
Open the Nvidia Control Panel and locate Manage 3D Settings. Change, in both Global and Program, the Preferred Graphics Processor to High Performance NVIDIA Processor.
run as admin from an admin account, have the least amount of background apps loaded on start up, make sure you have enough system memory left to run a 64bit O/S by disabling the onboard chip
and finally, add the exe of the game to your Anti Virus and firewall program

Re: Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
I know I didnt upload anything but I have the exact same problem and the graphics are not the problem. No integrated graphics here. Its not the game graphics running slow, its the AI thinking process that doesnt finish (thats CPU!). Its not freezing and its not causing the game to lag it just keeps thinking...
How would wrong graphics selected, antivir, firewall or anything be the problem if the game ran fine up to that point...
Edit: Antivir completely disabled doesnt change anything big surprise there
Installation of the Marine DLC that you did is not the problem either since I bought and installed (steam) after I got stuck because of this bug on Nanchang. So the problem has to be something connected to the patches.
Edit2: Savegame attached
i5 6500 3.2
8GB Ram
Win 7 64
GTX 960

Infinitive AI turn also in the BoB campaign, Unit Demonstrations scenario, turn 5.
Tried it with low and high performance settings, no difference in result.

Re: Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
exactly the same issue in a same scenario after new patch. AI is "thinking" forever.
Re: Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
thanks for the saves everyone, and reports for those who did them, it now gives the developer more information to work with and on, thanks, keep them coming
Re: Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
I'm not sure why this only shows up now, but the problem is related to an AI unit spawned outside of the playable map area.
Please download the zip in the attachment and extract it to the game's root folder. This should replace the scenario file in question. Let us know if this solve the issue after restarting the scenario.

Works
Thanks. Thinking took like two seconds

Re: Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
Sorry I am so late replying. I've been in the process of moving. That did fix my problem. No more endless loop AI thinking and the initial cargo truck exited the map.

Re: Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
Hi geluadi, the zip needs to go in the root folder where the game is installed. The exact location of this depends on whether you bought the game through Steam or the slitherine/matrix sites, but it's always somewhere in Program Files.
For steam installs, it would be here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Order of Battle Pacific\
For other installs, I think it would be here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Order of Battle - Pacific

Re: Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
Hi Bylandt11,
Could you post your latest auto-save from before the issue and the output_log from when the issue occurs?
I can use these to identify the problem that you're experiencing.

Re: Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
I have the same problem. Morning Sun gets stuck on the first turn, after the Chinese move. Tech support requested a screen shot of the saved game. However, since the turn never ends, there is no screen shot. has anyone found a fix to this problem? Thanks.
Re: Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
Hi msu,
Are you able to provide some diagnostic information? Either/both of the following would be very helpful:
[*]The output_log file from when the issue occurred
[*]A campaign save or scenario auto save from which the issue can be reproduced (note that these are the savegames from before the issue occurs, something I could load and use to recreate the issue).
Without any of these it is very difficult to identify the problem. I'd like to help you get up and running, but I need something to work with

Re: Order of Battle: Pacific 2.3.8 patch AI issue
I have the same issue as Jikuro99 in exactly the same place in the Hachan scenario. Press End turn aft the end of turn 1, the bunker takes a shot at the adjacent infantry, then the progress bar slowly fills all the way up and sits there 'Thinking' indefinitely.
I've downloaded the AI patch and the latest version of OOB WW2 (2.6.8 ). I'm using the non-Steam version.
I'm running:
Win 7 64-bit
8gb of RAM

AMD Radeon R9 200 video card
