Turn Progress Very Slow

Post by MarechalJoffre »

In the new US Marines DLC, I'm in the Guadalcanal mission. And turn progresses have became very slow compared to the older versions. Any possible solutions?

Can you upload a savegame of the specific scenario/turn?

The turn right after the save file for example, lasted about a minute for me.

Same here, Morning Sun campaign, Shanghai, up to 5 minutes AI turn. Save attached.

Tested other scenarios as well, campaigns or custom scenarios - same result.

Should note: Have the latest update and the USMC campaign istalled.

Morning Sun, Xuzhou, Turn 8: Chinese counter attack - AI turn over 10 minutes, CPU above 90 %, first I thought the game freezed ...

There's a pattern - when I start a new game or reload a save game (like Shanghai above) the AI needs circa 2 or 3 minutes for it's first turns, then the lenght increases. Xuzhou is an extreme case, it becomes unplayable.

lets see if there's a common ground on these performance issues,

How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8 )
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments (zip) rather than pasted into the body of the post.

add the exe of the game to your Anti Virus and firewall program, to make sure check the logs of these to see if it was one if any of them was to blame.

That usually means a 3rd party program, like an Internet security programs, is or could be interfering with the game or update installation.

run the game from a admin account and use full admin permissions.

please make sure all game pre requisite are installed with the game, even if you think or fully know there are already installed, it will only over write, and it may be that you have a older or newer version of these where as the game in question may need a certain version.

please make sure you are running the latest game version and have up to date drivers installed on your pc,

If you have the original version. So you'll need to update it from the Internet.
Please note that you'll only need the last update, as the updates are comprehensive. (not needed with steam)

I doubt if it's related to my end, because I'm not the only one who started to experience this problem with the new patch. My drivers are in optimal condition, so I don't think posting my DxDiag here is necessary. Nevertheless I'll be doing it tonight.

I agree with Joffre, looks like a problem with the new patch, but be it as it may, here's my DxDiag report :

lets take a look,

Memory: 8192MB RAM (system ram) minus also the 4 shared leaves only 4 left

Display Memory: 4095 MB
Dedicated Memory: 754 MB
Shared Memory: 3341 MB

vga driver Driver Date/Size: 8/4/2015 AMD Radeon HD 7560D

Realtek High Definition Audio 8/12/2011

and a clean log, so no errors to report,

vga card is using system ram, which is slower and used also by the system, a dedicated card using onboard ram is quicker, so less slow down, cpu use can be higher as it not only has to deal with less ram, it also has to feed the card so clock cycles are higher, equals slower performance on larger maps

Thanks for the analysis, Zak!

Checked the graphic card drivers, although from 2015, they are the latest. Will deal with the audio drivers and the memory problem now.

Though outdated divers etc. may cause problems, there are so many reports about lagging/long AI turns I can't believe the whole problem is all on the player's side. Before the latest patch I haven't had such troubles with this or other games (OOB shouldn't be more demanding than Wings Over Flanders Fields ... )

developer will look at these and the saves and get a better opinion on what is and what isn't working as it should, then reply, i can only do the report side and guess what may be right or wrong, as it's guess work most of the time for support, as if it works ok on our machines, the developer has to recreate the issue to try and fix it, hardware / software conflict or something else etc, the more that report a given error / fault / issue, the better the replies get i'm sorry to way, as by then we have or know a work around, fix or solution.

Thanks Zak. One reason I don't mind these issues at all is helpful customer support. Hope devs can fix it as soon as they can.

Its obvious patch 2.3.8 broke the game
I began scenario Nanchang of the Morning sur campaign yesterday and today I was trying to do turn 2 of the scenario , but with the new patch it never ends. After 40 minutes waiting for AI turn i stopped the game.
We need a mean to reverse to previous patch until the new path is fixed.

i'll repeat what the maker / developers says,
Can you upload a savegame of the specific scenario/turn?
or your logs, as per tech forum post, or your DXR report, thanks.

http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 72&t=64167

saying it doesn't work, gets us no info to work on or see what's wrong, and gives us nothing to work on other than guess work

I had this same issue, it seemed to take for ever for the AI to get through its turn. What worked for me was to play the game through Steam but offline, no problems at all with slow AI so maybe the problem is somehow related to Steam??
