Roll Call 2016

Post by quackstheking »

Just an early heads up and date for your diaries.

Roll Call 2016 will take place over the weekend of 2nd and 3rd of April at our usual venue of The Holywell School in Cranfield. This is the weekend after Easter again.

We will be continuing the "Big Boys Toys" theme and will run both a 15mm and 25mm FoGAM event. At the moment the themes have not been finalised nor have we opened the Online booking system via the BHGS webpage but as soon as these are decided we will post full details here.

Does anyone have any views on what steps might be taken to encourage more people to play with 25mm figures? If you have a 25mm army but don't play with it, what would encourage you to play with it at Roll Call?

Special Competition Rule - No Heavily Armoured Knights

Any Heavily Armoured Knights must be fielded and paid for as Armoured Knights.

eg.- an Undrilled, Superior, Heavily Armoured Knight base with Lance and Sword which normally costs 23 points will be fielded as an Undrilled Superior Armoured Knight base with Lance and Sword costing 20 points.  If such troops are dismounted they are deployed as Armoured, Heavy Foot - Offensive Spearmen.

This is to increase the number of viable armies in the theme and reflects the heavier armour of Ghilman & Mamluks in the later part of this period.

Army Lists to Andy Ellis for checking by 20th March 2016 please!

I have just tried to book into Roll call --- its only January and it appears sold out for FOG AM and lots of other periods.

Do we have a dramatically reduced number of places - this is not something that has happened in the past, at least not to me? :(

I guess you didn't see this thread David. I flagged it up 2 months ago. Worth an email to Tim to see if there is a reserve list.

The BHGS Challenge & Britcon are both open for booking.

This is the second year that we have sold out - well, technically we have one space in FoGR 25mm needed to balance numbers, but we are there and there abouts.

We have 8 in 25mm FoGAM and 20 in 15mm, making AM the biggest overall ruleset by player numbers (there were 6 + 26 last year). In terms of other ancients sets MM has 10+14, and ADLG has 14 this year, so we have 66 people playing these 3 ancients sets, the same overall number as last year.

Bolt Action is the biggest single period with 24 players, an increase from 10 last year. FWIW Bolt Action sold out several months ago, and we also ended up pulling DBM due to lack of early enough signup, allowing us to release their tables for other periods .

I believe Don has a waiting list in operation already for some periods, and is looking at whether we can squeeze in another table or two so it is worth getting in touch with him.

Due to a change in plan by one of the Reigate players we have a spare room in the Hilton in Milton Keynes on the Saturday night (2/4/16).
It is a KING HILTON GUEST ROOM including WiFi and Breakfast and we may get upgraded at check-in. The price is £51.75.
If anybody is interested please let me know.
See you all soon

You can see the details and book it online here http://www.bhgs.org.uk/field-of-glory-a ... -call.html

Just wanted to record my thanks to Don, Jer & Tim and everyone else involved in Roll Call for putting on another great weekend's wargaming for our benefit.

Thanks also to Lee, David, John & Andy for 4 very enjoyable games and to all of the FoG AM players for the relatively few umpire calls over the weekend.

yes.. just to say I had a really good time and thought the theme was really excellent.. a nice tight/close period but with plenty of options.. and the armoured knights only rule enhanced things too. Good to see the Christians coming out on top. 4 fun games against great opponents with my crusaders taking on 4 different styled enemies.. mongols (dave b) castile (andy e) seljuks (dave f) and Crusaders (dave P)

well done and thanks to all involved

Andy Ellis won - courtesy of some very poor play on my part in our final game which saw Andy leap from 4th to 1st.

Lee Sanders and Graham Briggs were 2nd & 3rd but note sure if I have the order correct.
